A new roleplayers tag

I don’t know if you guys will agree with me, but I propose we make a new tag where only roleplayers who want to be tagged in all the new Sign ups.

I mean, I really liked when I joined the @RPers I was soo happy to be tagged in every new sing ups thread so when I wanted to join an RP I could do it immediately instead of having to either look for a new RP to join in the sign ups category where all the new stuff being written is chats from really old RPs where you can’t join anymore and having to spend too much time until finding a RP that’s new that also interrests me; or having to go to the sign ups thread and vote on a poll and waiting for 1 week - 1 month until the RP gets enough votes or until the idea doesn’t even become a RP.

So you can imagine my dissapointement when it was no longer allowed to tag @/Rpers to promote new roleplays. Now I’m in a mood to roleplay and probably don’t want to wait for a month or longer to have the priviledge to sing up to one and then have to wait even longer to actually start RP-ing.

So, I hope some of you at least agree with me, if not some RPers, at least people who want to promote their RPs better than having them on a Sign Ups page where it will immediately be outshined by RP chats making it harder to both promote an RP and to join one.

What do you think? Is it a good idea?

Sounds good to me!

Yes
Because that was originally why I joined the rp tag. But then we were told not to use them.

Yeah me too!

It is possible to get notified every time a new thread is made on the Sign-Ups section, though, and that’s pretty much the same. If you go to the section, and then go to the bell in the top right corner and change it to ‘Watching First Post’.

And you could also have the New Ideas Thread on tracking, to get notified of new potential roleplays, and chose to be tagged when they come out.

I just have the new ideas thread on watching lol

Support!

You should probably move this to #site-feedback, though

In my opinion is kinda dumb that you can’t use rpers tag to promote rps but you can use it for random sh*t like weekly polls and other stuff. For example you just used that tag for this  (No offence to creators of those things, I just personally not interested in them) .Which is a little bit annoying, at least for me. I would prefer vice versa

That’s just weird

Yeah, but not all 80 people in the tag want to know about every roleplay, as they are probably in enough. The weekly polls and other things are generally to keep people interested, as it sometimes involves their characters or things from a roleplay they are in or they have made, and it is asking for your opinion on something. But if you don’t want to be tagged in every poll, then you are more than welcome to leave the tag. If you want to be notified of signups, then you can change your notification settings.

Because she wanted everyone’s opinion on the matter. Tagging 80 people for new roleplays is not the same as tagging 80 people to ask for what they think on a subject.

Yeah I understand it and I have nothing against it. It’s cool that some people are doing all those threads and etc. I just check them whenever I get tagged and if it’s not interesting for me, I just ignore them and that’s all. And yeah I keep on notifications on at new ideas thread, so I see more or less all ideas that are posted. But not all of them becomes RPs and sometimes it needs time until sign uo thread is created. So yeah I agree with idea for new tag for that.

Though, it might be more effective to just turn notifications on for everytime a new thread is added to the sign-up section. With the tag, people may forget to use it and you’ll miss one, you get every new sign-up thread with turning the notifications on.

I like the idea but is the tag not a little redundant. After all, we have the ideas thread that ALL RPers should set to watching and then they are tagged in the sign-up if they want to be from the poll. That’s also what we have the promotion thread for.
What happens if an RPer is in this new tag and they said no on the poll, but are then getting bombarded to join the RP despite this. It’s not fair.

Also, sign-ups are not outshone by chats if they’'re in the correct section. There are two different sections for this and you find all the sign-up threads in their section with only 34 for threads, which is away from the chat section. It’s not hard to look at them to see

Having this tag will completely disregard all the threads and work that we have all put into place and will make certain things obsolete. Sorry but I do not want the communities hard work at organising this place to go to waste, including TL’s Masterlist, and don’t think this is a good idea.

I think that the tag wouldn’t be super redundant if people wanted to join it, although the main purpose I can see it serving is when someone wants to have more people join their RP in progress since it would show activity more than the masterlist does

That’s what both the Masterlist and Advertisment thread do. For 34 “active” sign-ups, a tag isn’t necessary. Maybe when we reach 200 RPers and the sign-up section has more than 60 different sign-ups, then yeah, it could work. But as of right now, with the number of active RPers we have, no, it’s not fair ad goes against the threads we have in place.

I’m in favor.

But couldn’t it be a good idea to kinda “split” the existing Rpers tag into specific group tags, so people could get notified about certain events or signups? A signups tag could be helpful if you want to get more attention for a signup thread and you could also create a separate tag for the RP events, so there would be group tags people could actually use, because it seems like most bigger group tags get restricted after a while because someone complains about notifications, so it can be hard for non staff members to get attention for their threads. You could avoid that problem by creating tags which aren’t as general as the RPers tag which gets used for almost everything that’s RP related and ends up annoying some people. :eyes::sparkles:

That’s why people can create tags for their threads, Ducking. That’s the whole point of them, so we don’t use the RPers tag for it. If we were to split it then there would be no point in the RPers tag and we’d lose even more activity than we are now. They don’t like being in so many tags and stuff. Also, we are proud of our RP community and the fact that we have one of the biggest tags, if we split it then we’re narrowing it down into groups and it’s like saying that we can’t all be friends or something. We’re being exclusive, which is the problem we’re facing on the forums where people are saying they can’t make friends.
Yeah, and as I said above, when we get a larger number of active RPers, I’d be happy to entertain the idea of this tag, 'cause I think it could work. As of right now, everyone can use the RPers tag and do, it’s only restricted for advertising RPs and those have PLENTY of places to gain attention.
Speaking of the topic of non-staff posts not getting attention, this is not true for the RP community. Maybe other forum areas, yes, but not this part. Take this thread, for example, non-staff and it’s getting posted on. Then we have two of our best RPs that are run by non-staff, River’s FTD and ANY of ForeverAngel’s RPs.
