Didn’t know about Norway, let me rephrase a bit. I don’t think socialism would ever work in America, all our values have been built upon Capitalism and freedom, despising communism etc. I just feel that we won’t ever become socialist because it’s such a drastic change from our traditional values and our history, if we do it’s not Bernie.

I’m not trying to condescending to you in any way, I really think you should look into the history of socialist policies and movements in the United States starting with the WWII economic glory days, a working class family used to be able to live in a home they owned, have a major medical emergency without losing that home, and put their children through collage at least at the state level. Traditional conservative values are not necessarily unaligned with socialist policies, they are at odds with late stage capitalism (the hole we’ve fucked ourselves into) which our political leaders are for the most part deeply invested in upholding.

Are you referring to the 1950s, because most people of color were still at a disadvantage and there were huge inflation rates… the US was still incredibly capitalist as well. McCarthyism.

When I say “economic glory days” I am not referring to the MAGA “great America time” fantasy, but the rapid and steady progress made after the Second World War in this country, which ended in 1945 by the way. Also while of course black and non black people of color were at a disadvantage in a lot of ways, the mass southern exodus during the earlier half of the 20th century created many of the black enclaves that still exist today, they were opening their own businesses, buying property, sending their children to collage, keeping their money and resources within the community and in general enjoying a higher quality of life.
