I think - as writers - the storyline becomes far too annoying/disinteresting if we don’t create some obstacles for our characters. As much as a “happy ever after” is sweet - it’s not realistic and, frankly, fake - hence when things finally become “good” we love to mess it up.
Exactly. There should be some false happily ever afters, let them think things are good then pull the rug out from under them. Though, then after they’ve finally been through enough they can have a happy ending.

I usually give mine a decent-happy ending. Well, except for in stories I made with dolls, which I always had the characters die eventually.

My dolls rarely had happy endings. I always killed them off when I made stories with them, but other than them I typically give at least a happier ending.
Okay - but “stories with dolls” is what gets me
When I played with dolls, I created elaborate stories with them with lots of crazy twists. (Basically instead of writing, I was acting out the stories with my dolls.)
OH you meant literal dolls. I don’t know why I was thinking of a RP with dolls involved ahah. I was so confused and trying to figure out how that would work (I was thinking Coraline)

How old were you?
Probably around 11-ish when I started having my dolls often dying in very elaborate stories. (But even until I was 15-16) As long as I can remember though I did some crazy stories including death and making the characters’ lives miserable. Then as a teen I just got better at developing the stories. (But, I will admit that if my dolls weren’t in boxes since moving last fall, that I would still play with them…)

I used to have a dream journal and I used to write all my dreams down right when I woke up (and when I say I had a crazy mind - I mean it lmao. I feel a lot of my elaborate ideas come from there!
Yeah, then one of my neighbors would come over and even though she was a few years younger than me, with our minds together, things got extra crazy.
That’s cool. I know some of my ideas I’ve had (including one of my RPs actually) have been from some of the stories I made with dolls.

Just realized this cause I looked it up from not remembering in a half asleep state, but… I believe they’re actually the same height if they’re the same height as their fcs. Cause Jordan would only be 5’8 from when I looked it up…

Yeah, the 6 inch height difference is bad enough, that stare off doesn’t need the additional difference.
