One of the many cons of being born- or adopted- into a family under the magnifying glass of the public eye: vulnerability to the f^cking creeps in the world. Though the issue with getting so many messages, it was almost impossible to distinguish the actual danger from trolls. Hence Annie’s hints of nonchalance at an Instagram DM she had received. “Annie, what?” Finch Casillo started, reading the last of the many messages she had received from a certain account. Who even gave her Annie’s phone? Definitely not her. “They literally have a picture of Kyra with- ‘go to this address at 9pm or else I will-’” Though her reading was cut off when Annie took back her phone and sighed. “If I took every threat in those DMs seriously I would go f^cking crazy, Finch, it’s literally fine,” She told her, covering her face with her hands to shut off the conversation about it. It didn’t work.
“I think if you ignore every single threat there’ll be a real one in there that actually hits you,” Finch told her as Annie only stared at the wall adjacent to her. Then she finally looked at the stubborn eyes of Finch, there was no point in arguing this. Annie knew she needed to speak agreement, even if it was just to put her mind at rest. “Okay, okay, I’ll- I will figure this one out, -” “And I can-” “And you are forgetting this and staying away, it’s fine, I’ll sort this out myself,” She told her, because while Annie stayed sceptical… she still needed to keep Finch away from it. Just in case. This was Annie’s problem to fix, no help needed. So why wasn’t Finch nodding in agreement at her saying that? That’s what made Annie finally stand up, for the emphasis required. “I need you to stay out of this, okay? Stay the f^ck away. Please.” Annie told her as her pleading eyes met Finch’s.
Annie walked inside the hotel corridor, containing the room that hadn’t been stepped into by anyone other than authorities who were investigating the murder of the girl who didn’t stay away. Instead of Annie being the victim to the crime it was Finch, who had remembered the address from the message, who had doubted Annie’s word on fixing this herself, and who Annie found there when she arrived only 10 minutes later. 10 minutes. The lapse of time where Annie could have stopped what happened. Or better yet, gotten there before that fleeting period for it to have been her instead of Finch. And now Annie sat alone cross-legged in front of the door that had sealed her best friend’s fate. After however long had passed, the sound of a text on her phone echoed down the empty corridor, dragging Annie back down to earth.
To: Annie Williams
From: Jordan WilliamsGood Morning Sweetie,
It’s been about a month since the wedding and we have yet to discuss what happened on my wedding. I cannot even convey how disappointed I was realizing that you had chosen to not be in attendance. Your brother and sister were there to support me and it hurt that you had decided otherwise. I can only wonder can’t even begin to wonder what has been going through your mind and what led you to that decision… but, in any case, I am coming home tonight from my honeymoon and would like to meet with you tomorrow to talk how to move forward in our relationship and your future relationship with Jezebel. I expect to see you at home for lunch at noon.
The more Annie reread the text, the sadness that had built up began to change to fury. This did not fix her current - though largely unsolvable - issue weighing her down, in fact it only reminded her of the many more issues she had temporarily dismissed. No, of course Justin and Kyra would attend, they didn’t have a Quinn Casillo on their @ss gatekeeping the door. But that wasn’t what it was mainly about, she could see what her father was trying to see, and could see exactly how the conversation would go. Tomorrow to discuss their relationship? Let her guess, if Annie couldn’t attend the wedding she wasn’t going to be accepted as part of the family. Right, okay, no, f^ck that, she did not need to hear that. In fact, let her save him the f^cking trouble, and make it easier for him to do it.
Luckily, Annie already had people to unintentionally assist her on this simply by adjusting a scheme they had from before. So, as arranged, Annie turned up to Paige Pierce’s house, standing at the doorway. “Change of plans, Paige. Well. Change of house, not plan. Same plan,” Annie told her, before her eyes switched to behind her. “Cover your ears Mason, this is some confidential sh!t right here, okay? Cool.”
