Blue Royalty: New Blood

Much to his dismay, Leon’s intrigue towards Persephone had only grown since the night they had spent together at the carnival. Soon, that night evolved into text messages which then evolved into daily long late-night phone conversations. They never did any video calls but that didn’t bother Leon. He actually found it comforting to only hear her voice and was grateful that the lack of video concealed any time his roommate walked in while they were talking.

He told that they had to keep whatever this was quiet, telling her something about his mom not approving of it. He felt a little silly that, as a seventeen-year-old, he was using the ‘my mom said I can’t’ excuse but it was the quickest explanation he could come up with when he had told her about why he was keeping it on the extreme down-low. It was also the least suspicious explanation he could come up with.

When the day of their date arrived, he sent her a text message telling her to meet him at the park by her old school. He remembered her mentioning it during one of their phone calls and after a few searches on the internet, had found the address. He’d playfully ended the message by telling her to look as cute as always before getting dressed himself and heading over to the park in question. He made sure he was there well before he told her to meet him so that he could set up a picnic for them on the other side of the small hill.

When it was time for him to meet her, he walked back to the start of the trail, arriving just before she did. When she arrived, he made eye contact with her, smiling. He had to keep himself from cringing as she used his full name. He’d never intended on telling her but she’d somehow gotten him to reluctantly 'fess up during one of their conversations. “Don’t call me that,” He told her, trying his hardest to come off as playful and non-threatening while saying it. “Why don’t you come with me and find out?” He countered, offering her his hand after she asked what they were doing.
