Her mom’s wedding, it had been a month since then, and that was some f^^king crazy s^^t with the post from Blue Royalty. First of all, that day she got the chance to talk with her dad, something she never got to do enough. Sure they could call or text, but life usually got in the way and it just wasn’t the same as being in person. Though at least for a while there was the chance to just be there with her dad, face to face. A bright spot in an otherwise rough day. Then the wedding itself, Laurel just couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable. The sweet romantics of it all wasn’t her taste, as love was just how you got hurt, no reason to sugarcoat it so much. Relationships just don’t last. To top it off, the Blue Royalty post made everything worse by being posted just as soon as her mother was officially married. First of all bringing up the whole name change situation… That was a pain to get fixed. Sure, it wasn’t the best choice to have started the process to change her last name from Parker to Lucas in the first place, but she never actually intended on that going through… it was a mistake that Blue Royalty got their hands on, but even Laurel couldn’t deny seeing the hurt in her mother’s eyes from that reveal. Though, that was not the only reveal about her family. Jess, her cousin, was pregnant again, not a big surprise, but her aunt Val was too, along with her cousin herself… Veronica Parker, pregnant in senior year. Laurel could understand her dear cousin’s position in a way, having been the result of her mom having gotten pregnant during her senior year, 20 years earlier, but Laurel was certainly relieved to not have gotten into that position herself. Either way, VC was still her cousin, the girl she had grown up with. However with that came another issue, with VC’s own father. After the reveal about VC, he had practically dropped off the face of the Earth. Which was not appreciated uncle Dan. Though, it even helped reinforce Laurel’s view of love, as what was that supposed to even mean for her uncle Dan and aunt Val’ relationship? Things got hard, and probably wouldn’t get better. On the other hand, it was just another thing that was changing from the life Laurel knew. Could everything just not feel like a mess for once?
For the moment, it was as near a sense of normalcy as one could get when everything was changing so much. Laurel was sitting in a cafe with her dear cousin, which didn’t exactly feel normal to Laurel, knowing that VC was pregnant. But there Laurel was, trying to take some piece of normalcy in being with her cousin. Though as the pair was chatting, a boy their age came up to them, opening up with the comment that they looked like the type who likes to have fun, before sitting in the empty chair then showing them two fake ids and beginning his sales pitch. For them, being Parkers, who are if not the richest family in Beryl they’re pretty close, the money for them would be nothing. The thing was, neither of them needed one, both of them being pretty much able to make a near perfect fake id in their sleep, much better than even 98% odds. Though, that didn’t mean they couldn’t play along for a little while. “Such a shame. Of only other people thought we were.” Laurel looked back at her cousin for a moment, then looked the guy over, giving just a slight smirk. “One of those would lessen can make a difference with those age restrictions. What kind of wait and extra are you talking?” she asked, as though she were actually interested in the purchase of one.
