Prom -2040
“You know you don’t look half bad in a suit,” Jess mumbled as she wrapped her arms around her husband who was mid-buttoning up his shirt as he complained about getting roped into helping chaperone with Andy and Riker. There was something about why he had to go when he wasn’t even a parent of any of those kids argument leaving his lips, though Jess just stood there laughing at his antiques. “Well, Darling, if this is how hot you looked during your prom, I’m kind of regretting not making an appearance… though in retrospect, I was already in Beryl at the time, I just wasn’t in the mood for your p!ssy attitude towards me ruining your prom.” Well that shut him up, as soon as she said those words, she found his blue eyes meeting hers and his arms wrapping around her waist. Jess was currently 4 months pregnant and starting to finally show… which… honestly was a surprise in itself for Dorian though he had come to terms with the idea of their family growing.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I was never p!ssy, you should have shown up,” she heard him whisper, and it caused an immediate roll of her eyes as she playfully smacked his shoulder. “Why? So you could push my hair behind my ear and tell me to disappear Dori? You know what, nope, we’re not getting in this bloody argument again, love you’re just using it as an excuse to take longer so you have to spend less time chaperoning… even though I’m clearly right… anyways, I already had a prom in London so I didn’t need to crash another one.”
With that, Jess pecked her husband’s lips before walking out of their guest bedroom at Jez’ place. “HOLD UP, what do you mean you had a prom?” Jess found Dorian following behind her, with his suit jacket in hand as they walked down the stairs. “What do you mean by what do you mean? I had a prom… at my private school… in London… before I transferred. You know prom isn’t just an American thing right? Well of course we called it our Senior School Formal, but it was practically the same thing.”
“You never told me that,”
“When was it relevant?”
“I don’t know, maybe when I told you about my prom?”
“You never asked, love.”
“I didn’t know you had a prom… wait wait… did you have a date?”
“Yes.”
“Yes?”
“Yep.”
There was a smile that made its way to Jess’ lips with her husband’s questions, though soon it was practically just an interrogation about who she had gone on a date with - something, to his dismay, she kept to herself only telling him that it was the bloody best date she had in her entire life. As he continued to pester her with questions, Jess kept evading the question as she led Dori to the front where Andy was entertaining Shay and Aidan, or as he now called them, Shaydan and Riker was playing with Zoe, Grayson, and Ethan.
“Was it Andy? Did he take you?”
“Nope.”
“Do I know them?”
“Not really.”
“Why won’t you just tell me a name?”
“Because, my love, this person is 100% the one who got away and if I tell you their name, that person might not come back one day,” Jess joked as she snuck up on Aidan and picked him up from the back before giving him a bigggg kiss before putting him back down.
“Zac… Efron?”
“Damn you got me…”
“Wait really?”
“No Dori.” Jess laughed, before looking at Andy with a stern look. “You are not to tell Dori who my date to my prom was, got it?” Jess stated to a man who truly had no clue who it was, but Jess knew it would annoy Dori if he thought Andy knew. After a second of confusion, Andy looked into Jess’ eyes and nodded. “Yep buddy, sorry can’t say,”
“Jesssss”
“How about this, don’t complain for the reeesst of the night and if Andy gives me the go-ahead when you’re back, I’ll tell you all about my prom date… and my fcking amazing prom night.” Jess joked before wrapping her arms around her husband for the second time. “Oooor better yet, I’ll show you what I did prom night.” She whispered in his ear, insinuating… well… you know…
Sooo anyways, after Dori left, Jess and Jez were left with the kiddos to keep them company - kiddos who (after Shay looked at Instagram and saw her cousins in pretty dresses) beggeeed and beggeeed and beggeeed to go to prom too with them because *they wanted to be princesses (and princes) too". Well, we all know that wasn’t happening. Buuuuuut Jess and Jez came up with a tiny little compromise and instead, found themselves having their own little impromptu prom in Jezebel’s backyard. With a little call to a contact Dan provided who was an event planner on the Parker Industries payroll, Jess and Jez soon stood in a gorgeous backyard decorated to the tee. Let’s just say, the speed of all of this coming together was magnificient.
Best of all… or at least Shay’s and Zoe’s favorite part was going around the neighborhood with cousin Jez to ask all the neighborhood kids if they wanted to join. (Jessica’s favorite part was when the pizza delivery boy came by with the dozens of pizzas they ordered but to each their own). So, in other words, at the current moment, there were far more hyper up kids in the backyard than there were when Andy, Riker, and Dori had left only an hour and a half earlier.
In the backyard, there was also a place for the kids to find a gown or suit (all provided by the event planner who hired a bloody TAILOR to make sure the clothes were fitted) and do their makeup by a makeup artist before dancing the… evening away. Let’s just say… Dan has a bloody excellent event planner on the payroll… bravo man, bravo. If Jess wasn’t married, she may have considered marrying the damn event planner because hell, there was something about the speed and efficiency that made her think that her event planner was amazing in the bedroom. Mooooving oonnnn (sorry Dori).
“Woahhh buddy you look soooo handsome,” Jessica grinned walking with Grayson in her hands as she went towards the front door where more guests had likely arrived to join the festivities. “Su…suit baadamma blalanmae dadaa ba” . Okay let’s just assume he said My suit looks as good as dad’s doesn’t it?. “Wellll I think you look even better than your dad Gray,”
There were a lot of things that could have been behind that door that wouldn’t have surprised Jess. It could have been the cops for being loud… it could have been Postmates with a surprise delivery for their favorite customer… it could have been her prom date in 2020 for fcks sake and it would have been less surprising than what she saw when she opened that door.
“Hello and welcome to the lovely kiddie prom we’re having. Feel free to…” Jess started, repeating the spheel she had said about 15 times already with the earlier families that had made their way to the house. However, as she looked away from Grayson and towards the person in front of her, Jessica’s mouth shut. “…Kai… what the hell are you doing here?”
