When you get an opportunity to attend an event you say yes. Or no, it’s totally fine to say no if you don’t want to go and Dorian… Well, he definitely didn’t want to go to prom again but what happened? How did he end up being one of the chaperons when he didn’t even have kids that went to the famous high school? He doesn’t know, it just happened and you know what? He was not fine with it. He’d rather do anything else than waste his time in his old school with a bunch of teenagers who probably hate the idea of adults being there. And Dorian supports them! Why do some parents have to be there? Let the kids have fun in peace, it’s once in a lifetime kind of experience. Did you hear that Andy? Did you hear that Riker? Let your kids have fun… Geez. You know what? That will be Dori’s job that entire night - keep those two away from their kids so they can have fun without worrying about their dads being there. You’re welcome, kiddos.
That didn’t mean he couldn’t complain about it. ”So stupid,” mumbling to himself, he picked up a shirt and threw it on as he walked to the mirror. No, his mumbles didn’t even stop when his wife walked in and wrapped her arms around him. ”Why do I have to go? I’m not a parent, this… Is ridiculous. They don’t need any grown ups there, for fuc-” Before he got to finish what would only be endless complaining if he was alone, Jess interrupted him with something that made him shift his gaze to her in the mirror before turning to face her with a smile on his lips, and wrapping his arms around her waist. Well… Only the first part of what she said made him smile but… ” I don’t know what you’re talking about, I was never p!ssy, you should have shown up,” no, he was… Never… P!ssy. What are you talkiiiing about? And why did she get such a reaction to what he said? It was the tru- No, it wasn’t. He knows pretty well what would’ve happened if she showed up for prom and he wasn’t very proud of that. Everything she said next was the truth, as much as he hated it and he would rather not talk about that or her prom. Her… What?
How did he never hear about that? How did… They never talk about prom? They could talk about the most stupid things for hours but what happened to this? Wha- NOOO, you don’t get to steal a kiss and walk away before he gets to ask a very important question. ” HOLD UP, what do you mean you had a prom?” Swiftly picking up his jacket from the bed, Dori rushed out of the guest bedroom to follow his wife who decided she can just turn around and leave without giving him more information. Leave and not answer his… A question or two. That’s just not fair, love. Was it Andy? It was a valid question. Didn’t she… No, he completely forgot about the way she decided to talk to his family and not him all those years ago. Was it Zac Efron? Another good guess. That man just can’t stop… Being annoying. But no, she wasn’t giving him anything which only made him more curious and… Can we say just a tiny bit jealous? How dare someone take his wife to prom? And HOW DARE his cousin know and not him? There was a challenging look on his face as he stared at his cousin who decided to betray him again by not telling him such an interesting secret, all until he turned to his wife again with almost puppy eyes. ”Jessss.” Aaaaand that didn’t work. She even dared to give him an ultimatum. Wifey, do you really think he’ll be able to shut up and not complain? ”Oooor better yet, I’ll show you what I did prom night.” Okay, that… Changes a few things. ”You… Are evil,” a soft smile played on his lips before he gently kissed her and then put on his jacket. ”Okay, can we go? ”The sooner we arrive, the sooner it will be over.
It was… Strange and uncomfortable being at prom again, especially with so many kids around, and to make it worse - Dori was not allowed to complain. If he was, here are a few examples of what he would say: I’d rather be doing anything else right now because this sucks, this really sucks, this is so boring, what am I even doing here, I can already tell how annoying these kids will end up being soon, I’m not a parent so I shouldn’t be here… This sucks. You get it. To make it even worse, when they entered the venue and were standing there in front of the entrance, Dori’s two buddies were… Gone. Uhm… Was he really that distracted with his own thoughts that he didn’t notice Andy and Riker disappearing? WILL HE REALLY LET THEM RUIN PROM FOR THEIR KIDS? No, no he will not so it’s time to find them again and- ”Veronica,” after he says hi to VC. A soft smile met his lips as he returned the hug to one of the normal kids in this building. So no, he didn’t mind that Veronica was in his way… no matter who her dad was… because they were bestest of friends. Take that Dan
The girl seemed a bit… Off, comparing to what he’s seen a few hours earlier, considering he’s been staying with his family in Beryl for a few days now and spending some time in the Parker house. But who is Dori to say anything? He certainly wasn’t going to ruin the fun for anyone here, so he simply nodded at VC’s statement before she walked away leaving him to finally go looking for Andy and Riker… Or not because someone else was in his way now. Is someone fcking kidding him? Okay, okay, SORRY, he was not complaining. Did you hear him complain? I didn’t. Do you know how many times something like this happened to Dori? Someone “bumping into him not realizing who he was and then pretending how surprised they were”? Way too many times. Like… Way too many times. At one point in his life he didn’t mind that, it was fun… It was flattering in a way and he liked seeing what a girl would do to get his attention… but that was a really long time ago and this girl standing in front of him now was not even an adult. STOP it Dori, maybe she really needs help… You promised to be good today.
This blonde girl tripped… or… something in front of him, obviously now using him as support which was fine… He’s not going to refuse to help someone who needed help. The moment her hands were on him, he moved his to her waist for some extra support looking down at her with both concern and confusion. ”Oh… Are you-” But before he could express that, the girl continued explaining what happened and everything was fine and innocent until he met her eyes and she started taaaalking and talking. There was one thing he was right about, she did know who he was but that didn’t mean she faked anything so he simply smiled at the girl as she mentioned New Orleans, only speaking up when she asked for more help… Asked to go somewhere else so he could find ice. Is this what you have to do if you’re chaperoning? Because this is not what he signed up for… ”Yeah… yeah. You’re fine? You can walk?” Did he listen to what the girl said? Well, not really… he was looking around for a place where she could sit, no intention to carry her if her answer no. She seems to like sports? Toughen up then. With his arm around her waist, they walked to the other side of the venue and probably brought some attention to them… She’ll have an interesting prom story to tell, wouldn’t she? He found her a place at one of the many tables that were close to them, for a moment leaving her there alone to find some ice with, ”Wait here.”
”So you’re a soccer fan?” With a smile Dori returned to the injured girl, doing something every person would like to happen to them - getting down on his knees in front of the girl with a pack in his hand he didn’t look at her, instead he examined her ankle before gently placing that pack on it. ”I hear about refs having something about me all the time, trust me. That game was… bllsh!t, but it is what it is. It’s nice to see we have someone defending us,” a soft laugh left his lips as he looked up at the girl before adding, ”Just leave it there, you’re fine,” obviously talking about the ice. What? Were you expecting him to hold that on her ankle this whole time? She was not his child and she was fine. So letting that sit there or just letting her hold it herself, whatever works for her, he got up on another chair, leaning back as his gaze traveled around the place looking for his family. ”What a start to your prom, huh?” with a aw that sucks smile Dori’s gaze landed on Emily again. ”Just don’t… I don’t know,” he started as he attempted to get up and… Leave the girl. ”I won’t tell you not to do anything, it’s prom after all but be careful with that leg. If anything happens there are some parents here who could help… Or me, I guess.”
