Malachi Azure
What was the point? Intentions never matter. Never. Not unless your intentions agree with the story someone else has decided is the truth. Whoever created the phrase, “it’s the thought that counts”, because that person is a liar. The thought is never what counts. It’s only the appearance that really matters. That appearance, how people respond to that appearance is all that anyone cares about. Everyone will believe a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but rarely does anyone believe it could be the other way around. The bad hides behind the genuine, good front, which is automatically expected to be the only case even when the intentions behind the worst decisions were to do the right thing, or at least… the closest to the right thing given the situation. “I know. I know that everyone in my life gets put through hell, because of me. Everyone that’s ever given a damn about me worst of all.” He couldn’t change the past, no matter how much he wanted to. The most he could do was to take every action possible to not hurt anyone in his life even more. When Jess realized that Daniel was the reason for Akielah’s self-isolation, all Kai could do was simply nod. She had to have known that Akielah wouldn’t have just stepped away like she did. “You wouldn’t understand… and I’m not trying to bother Val, I just need someone I trust…” The list of people he could trust, was very, very small, and the number of them that he could talk freely with, without holding back, was even smaller. Even as she tried to deny that anything was going on, it only proved that there was something he was missing. She even called him Kai before changing back to say Malachi. Something was going on and he needed to know. Kai didn’t know what she was trying to hide, but he certainly didn’t expect the words that came out of her mouth. Anna’s… daughters… his… “What the f^^k?” That bit of information certainly took a moment to process. “Anna’s… Mine? But… f^^k…” Anna was one of the people on the planet he hated most. Right up there with his wife and his father. He would never have done anything with her. Except… that one night. He never had been able to remember more of that night, nearly 20 years earlier. He had been completely blackout drunk that night, enough so that even the next day he had quite a lot of alcohol in his system… at least that’s what he had been told in the hospital after surgery, after being stabbed. That day… May 30th, 2020… Elettra stabbed him, and Jess… everyone almost lost her for good that day… and the baby they could’ve had was lost… but he woke up that morning before the stabbing with someone else… someone he despised in his bed. Anna Pierce, the twin sister of the girl he had fallen in love with. He had been so out of it the night before that he didn’t know it was her until that morning, a realization he had for the most part blocked out of his memory, but apparently, there was more he never knew. “I… what the f^^k…” Kai muttered, more to himself than anything. He got Anna Pierce pregnant. “And nobody thought to tell me?” he questioned, looking back to Jess.
