Blue Royalty: New Blood

Elijah didn’t want anything more than to go home and forget about this night. The threesome was fun and exciting but he didn’t want to be around Sammy and Richard and pretend like everything was fine, or that he was happy. He never liked faking emotions. In reality, he didn’t have the energy to be around people right now especially in a situation that was such a contrast from how his life might be in a few weeks. He just had a bad feeling about what would happen when he went home and just wanted to get it over with. So, as he looked at Sammy’s angry face, he wished she would understand or care but if she didn’t then so be it.

Then Richard came downstairs. He thought for sure he wasn’t going to wake up and Elijah could just leave and explain himself later, but there he was. Seeing him let him know that there was more drama to deal with and the possibility of Richard thinking that Elijah didn’t like him anymore. That was until he started yelling at the clerk and defending him, so Elijah figured Richard must have been listening to the three of them all along.

And when it comes to Elijah here, despite his father doing a morally and legally wrong thing, he’s grow up into a far better person than the likes of you could ever become.

Elijah never saw him like this - with his brows furrowed and using a demanding tone. He had to admit that he enjoyed seeing the clerk get what she deserved, but he felt like he didn’t deserve these words. He probably was going to turn out like his father and Richard was going to be disappointed and leave him. Besides, Richard barely knew him so how could he be so sure that he liked him.

Don’t worry about your father though Elijah, I’m sure the smart ones will know not to think poorly of you because of your father’s actions. At least I won’t.

“I - thanks Richard.” Elijah responded, albeit awkwardly. Then, he tried to bring them together again by saying they should all get drinks, but the moment felt lost. It wouldn’t be the same and even if he tried that blue royalty post would still be in their brains.

But Sammy was still mad, and he noticed that when she quickly stormed back to the room after saying something that was a bit off but seemed positive at first listen. He could read her like the back of his hand and knew that she was hiding her emotions so someone could comfort her. He also thought that she would get over it the next day and that it wasn’t that serious like their other arguments from the past. The cheap lights of the hotel lobby were the only things constant in this situation. Elijah looked down at the floor when realizing that Richard was alone with him. “I’m just…going to go now.” He said looking at Richard. “I’ll talk to you guys later.” Without waiting for an answer, he left the brightly lit room into the midnight air.

After walking in the door to his home, he could sense the silence and emptiness painting the walls. Everything that was already said was probably hanging in the air and about to envelope him. Walking farther into the house, he could see his parents sitting at the table with stressed looks on their faces, looks that he was all too familiar with. His mother was the first to look up at him. “Elijah, come sit down.”

“Is it real?” He asked, afraid of the answer.

“…Yes it’s…sigh…it’s real.” Instead of his dad answering the question, he was staring off into space.

“But why? How-”

“Yeah, how?” His mom looked at his dad. After another brush of silence he finally answered. “It’s true. The charity I worked at was a scam and now I have to deal with the consequences of my actions.” He said robotically. Elijah noticed his mother running her fingers through her hair aggressively while looking like she was about to explode. She finally stood up. “Your father is going to get sued and we will lose all of our money over this stupid scam. I should’ve -” There was a pause. Elijah knew she was probably talking about preventing it, proving his idea that she knew what was going on. “This has just gone completely overboard and now - now it’s too late.” Elijah didn’t know what to say so his eyes just went back and forth between them. He wished his dad would speak up and say something, say that they had everything under control but it didn’t look that way. They were going to lose everything?

“That homeless shelter-”
“Stop it Rachel. We’re going to make everything right.”
“No you won’t Eric! How could you say that!”

Elijah stared into space watching his parents argue.
