Blue Royalty: New Blood

Justin smiled, his eyes reflecting the playful tone that they had established up on the roof again. “Come on, you know we can’t forget the times when you and Annie would come up here as freshman,” He recalled, as Veronica had glossed over any memories she may have had from what seemed like decades ago. “Sneaking up sh.tty… Budweiser or something,” He continued, getting lost in the nostalgia of the comparatively-simpler time. “I still don’t even know how you got them, the gas station never took my fake ID. Pretty privilege probably.” He quipped, testament to her ability to charm her way through almost anything.

“Now look at us,” Justin commented as he took the bottle out of her hands - “Nothing’s changed.” He stated as if it could be true. Nothing had changed, except at the time of the recalled memory, adjusting to his parents divorce seemed like the worst thing their family could face. That seemed like a breeze in comparison to this. Snapping out of his thoughts, he drew attention to Veronica’s last sentiment. “A few? Care to expand?”

Sitting down beside Veronica, Justin gave a light laugh at her seemingly easy question. “You mean, besides the whole ‘life falling apart’ thing?” He asked, finishing the sentence that she wasn’t able to. “It’s been… yeah. Yeah,” Justin told her, knowing that this failed to actually give her an answer. “What about you? Give me something good, please.” He pleaded, needing some sort of good news.
