“Old white men hiding something? When are they not?” Mason questioned looking around the hallway. It did seem… like it had been a long time since anyone had been there before them. Cobwebs filled the room, and it wouldn’t be a far stretch to say there were more than one…‘creepy crawlies’ around - including bugs, mice, and likely so many other undiscovered species seeing how old this place was. Besides the paintings of the men, the rest of the hall, however, seemed oddly untouched - only leading farther down the hall. There was the chipping of paint amongst the hallway, and Mason was… well… surprised that the lights even still worked - as dim as they may be. Despite the… creepiness of it all, however, he did enjoy the company. “I’m sure we’ll be fine Olivia, don’t worry… I won’t let anything happen to you… feel free to push me in front of the ax-wielding zombie if there are any,” he added, carefully walking forward with only the sounds of creaking below them filling the room in between their words.
So maybe he chose to scare her… just a little bit to serve as a distraction to the fact that they were in… well a horror movie with no end. Honestly, they had already been walking for a few minutes and had seen nothing as of yet making him wonder if they would ever get out of this endless trap they had found themselves stuck in. “Don’t worry, I never wanted to be in the club anyways” he noted at her words, though his voice trailed off as they finally reached a room. Cobwebs or not, the room was… extravagant… and reminded him that of a ballroom. There were broken pieces of wood that filled the floor, alongside dust that emerged with every step they took further into the hall. A chandelier that was still hanging was in the middle of the room, and drew his attention to a lion symbol engraved on the floor. Perhaps it was a mascot for this odd… club, either way… it was… eeiry. Taking a step into the room - after all it was not like the hidden door lead anywhere else - Mason walked towards what looked like a switch and with a click, the entire room came to life. The lights seemed to be working fine… at least for now and finally he could see the entire room clearly. The moment the lights turned on, music begin playing as the sound of pre-recorded violins begin filling the room. “What the hell?” he whispered walking in before putting his hand out to help Olivia. “Secret society of partygoers?” Mason asked, walking deeper inside with Olivia’s hand in his ignoring the music, though he found himself kicking something on accident. Looking down, he found an old journal and without hesitation, picked it up - opening it to find cursive handwriting filling the first page.
“Property of Rebekah Azure,” his eyes widened slightly, the name… seeming familiar though he couldn’t place his finger on why. “So… this is weird. Mind helping me look for a way out? There seems to be… a lot of ways to go.” Mason stated, keeping the journal in his hands as he looked at the halls in front of them.
