“It feels like it’s been 1000 years since I last came here”
“You can say that again.” They said as they began walking, holding hands with Tsumuji. She asked them how their summer was and they smiled in return. “My summer was pretty good. I spent a few weeks in Hokkaido and then I spent the rest of the summer working. What about you, how was your summer?” They told her, answering her first question. To answer the second question they added, “I left early. I had to work the next morning.”
Could she just… turn invisible? God how she wished she had the power to disappear right this instant with the snap of her fingers. Amelia Grace had never been good around people in general… and boys… well… she was worse around them. JP Medina was… well… if you couldn’t tell… a boy. A boy that she didn’t know too well outside of tutoring so this situation was just… please god… just let her disappear right now.
The only thing she could do was… talk… and not…look at him. She didn’t know… what the hell was coming out of her lips when she heard him utter her name soon followed by the fact that Miss Espinoza could wait. “Well… I don’t know about that…class is… in… a few minutes… um… that 4th question was… really hard…” she started, as he took over, moving the two up but honestly at this point, she looked like she was straddling him. Someone just shoot her… right now… please.
She gave him a strained smile as he helped her up and they soon found each other facing one another again… far more… awkward than it had been. A soft sigh left her lips as she looked at him. “I’m sorry… god… maybe we should just… skip the tutoring session today… I don’t know it’s been… a… such a weird few… yeah… minutes… And… I don’t know if we… you’re busy… yeah…” Amie got out.
Xavier nodded as Mia spoke about the bakery. “I guess. It just means that I don’t get to see them at home that much.” He said, rubbing the back of his neck. He listened as Tyler told him about their mom’s job and about this python that swallowed a golf ball. However, even when Tyler was the one speaking, he kept his attention on Mia. She chimed in saying how she didn’t understand why people are afraid of snakes and Xavier couldn’t help but chuckle. “I think it depends on where you live,” He started saying, with a small shrug. “Like, snakes freak me out, but I grew up in LA. You don’t exactly see many snakes strolling down Hollywood Boulevard.” He said before running a hand through his hair. “Well, reptilian ones, anyway. Can’t say the same about the human ones.” He added with a small laugh.
Tyler quietly nodded when Xavier said that means he doesn’t get to see his parents much. That made sense. Both nodded at the snake comment. “Yeah, it depends on where you are, because some places have really venomous snakes. For instance, Australia. You really, really need to be careful there. Like, there are snakes there that can kill you in thirty minutes.” Mia snickered at his human snake comment. “That’s very true.” @Caticorn - Xavier
Clara walked down the hall of her practically empty house, backpack in hand. Her siblings’ bedroom doors were closed, the rooms were currently unoccupied, and Colin had left for work about an hour prior to Clara preparing to leave for school, meaning that she was practically alone in their large house. Her only comfort was the faint music coming from the basement, letting her know that her papa was in his studio. She knew better than to disturb him while he was working, so without saying anything, she picked up her keys and left the house.
On her way to the school, she stopped and got herself an iced coffee like she did every morning. She turned on the radio before pulling away from the coffee shop and driving towards the school. She drove the same route every morning, which might seem boring to some people, but for Clara, having something in her life that she could control and keep the same as long as she wanted was a comfort.
Arriving at the school, she drove into the parking lot, pulling her car into the first available spot she could find. She got out of her car and retrieved her bag before locking it and walking away. She walked through the parking lot, but as she neared the school, she was suddenly hit by the door of someone’s car. Stepping back, she got a good look at who had hit her. Phoebe Renee Taylor-DeLoughrey. The other girl was still looking at her phone and Clara gave her a death stare until she looked up. “I’d usually say good morning but watch where you’re going seems more appropriate now,” Clara rolled her eyes. “I could say the same to you,” She responded with a passive-agressive smile, crossing her arms. “Or were you not the one who just hit me with a car door while looking at your phone?”
This… Clara and being forced to speak to her really, really wasn’t what Phoebe needed after her already eventful morning. Something she couldn’t talk about with anyone she knew, not even her sister who she’d go to the moment she found out something, the moment something happened because unfortunately, it was about her. But standing in front of this other girl Phoebe was subtly avoiding for a while now made her forget all about it. ”It was not just my fau-”It was not my fault. That’s what she would’ve said if Clara was just a person she didn’t know or someone she didn’t like. Don’t get me wrong, she didn’t like her but there was more to that story. There was always more to every story and this one, she did not like.
That smile she forced when she looked up at Clara was still on her lips, now trying to make it look more genuine. As if she meant every words she was about to say, ”I’m sorry. I was distracted by something and wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings. I promise it won’t happen again.” Phoebe fixed the bag over her shoulder, disgusted by herself and this fake attitude she had to put on. Whoever knew Phoebe knew that this was not something she would do. She wasn’t mean, no, but she wouldn’t pretend to like someone and not stand up for herself. Her gaze was stuck on the girl as she took a deep breath in, fighting every urge to just walk away from her and possibly worsen the situation. But… things were good so far so maybe it didn’t matter what she would do.
That didn’t stop her from keeping on that positive, friendly act. It’s best to make sure you’re safe. To avoid some negative attention from other students, now when she was on top of the list, Phoebe delicately put her hand under Clara’s arm making her start walking towards the school. ”What a good start to this morning, what do you say? I see you even got some time to stop for a coffee. I suppose that’s good, wakes you up and whatnot. You see, I never really was a coffee drinker. Tea is my go-to drink, Especially black tea, it’s a great alternative to coffee, as well as Pu-erh. Maybe you should give it a go? ” A pointless conversation as they walked together through the door, Phoebe making sure she had a bright smile on so no one would suspect a thing. That’s was until they got to lockers and there weren’t many people around. Phoebe slowly turned to Clara, her voice now becoming a whisper. ”I see you’re doing a good job at keeping your mouth shut and not spreading false information. I knew I could trust you,” with that she gently raised her hand up, in a friendly way fixing Clara’s shirt, still keeping a smile on.”Am I right? You’re doing a good job?” With that she looked up to meet her eyes, her smile faltering. It was her way of asking Clara, did you tell her?
Beck - Loser played loudly in his earphones as he slammed his car door. It was really another day of classes except it was senior year. He wasn’t looking forward to coming back to school to the same - old thing but it was the extra activities at school that he could tolerate. Like anything other than sitting in the class. The hallways were crowded as they usually were everytime a new school year started. He greeted a few of his friends that were at their lockers but pretty soon it was time for first period to start, and he reluctantly trotted to Mr Erickson’s science class. The teacher was in front of the classroom, fixing things up while the desks around him were empty except for a few people sitting at them. “What’s up Rick.”
Elijah said. “Hi, Elijah.” Erickson sighed with a mustered up smile. Elijah turned around and he saw Sammy sitting at one of the seats. “Sammy? You’re already in class? Wow." He sat down at the desk beside her.
Karen walked through the hallways, the crowds slowly dissipating as they all went to their respective classrooms. The school was larger than the other schools she was previously enrolled in, and she felt strangely happy to be at a school that she had heard about for so many years. When she walked in her first period English class, she felt a pang of nervousness in her chest. She didn’t know where to sit in this large classroom, but she saw Cynric sitting in one of the seats. She knew him for being in one of the extra programs she used to go to but they were never extremely close because of circumstances. Still, she decided to sit next to him since he was the only familiar face in the classroom so far. “Hi.” She waved at him, then sat on the seat next to his.
JP has had his share of awkward situations in his life, so when it comes to it, he was much better at handling it than Amelia was, no offence. So as the two finally made it to a stand up on their feet without falling, the girl mumbled about class and skipping tutoring, to which he nodded ”if question 4 was hard you might still need it” he told her ”but up to you” he added, giving her the choice of action as she got away, leaving him in the hall, headed for class (after changing clothes obvi)
“Yeah, I guess. It’s still a little creepy though.” She said with a small shrug. She smiled as Destiny mentioned her being on the first list and pulled her into a hug. “Thanks luv. I honestly wasn’t expecting to see myself there either.” She responded, returning the hug. “The task actually wasn’t that difficult,” She answered as she pulled away. “I was able to complete it within the first few minutes of me being there.” She listened as her friend explained why she couldn’t do her tasks. “That’s awful. Hopefully you have some better luck next time.”
As Mia continued to talk about snakes, Xavier found himself focusing less on her and what she was saying and more on her brother, who had barely said anything during the course of the conversation. Except the more he focused on Tyler, the more he was reminded of the summer and Tyler’s words from that one day at the end of it began replaying in his mind, reminding him of how much they had hurt. “I’m sorry, I can’t do this.” He muttered before turning and walking away from them. He knew that he’d probably feel awful about it later on, but he truly couldn’t stand being there any longer.
Phoebe started talking, protesting to what Clara had just said, but then cut herself off mid-sentence. What she said next, Clara had not expected. She actually apologized. With a smile and everything. Surprised at both the apology and Phoebe’s attitude, Clara raised her eyebrow, trying to think about how she should respond. Before she had the chance to say anything, Phoebe began walking her towards the school, having put her arm underneath Clara’s. Her suspicions began rising as the other girl started going on about tea.
“I’ve never been much of a tea drinker,” She responded, wondering why Phoebe was so concerned about her choice of morning beverage. “I just prefer the taste of coffee.” She added, not that it was any of her business. They walked until they reached the lockers and Phoebe whispered to her about keeping her mouth shut and not spreading false information. She looked down at Phoebe’s hand as she fixed her shirt and looked back up with her eyebrows furrowed as Phoebe asked if she was doing a good job.
So that’s what this was about. Clara was now fully aware of the motivation behind everything that just took place. “Oh, I haven’t told her,” She responded, trailing off as she ran her hand through her hair, shaking out her curls. Her tone was innocent, as if she wasn’t aware of what she was responding to. “Yet.” She added on with a smirk, putting emphasis on that one, three-letter word, reminding Phoebe of the power that she held. She couldn’t deny that she enjoyed having something she could hold over her, something she could threaten to expose at any time, whether she was actually going to go through with it or not.
One thing people might not expect about Cynric was that he was an early bird; he valued time and he wanted to make the most out of each days he went by. This morning, before going to school, he didn’t forget to stop by his favorite candy shop for this week’s supply of sweets, and he even managed to get a free pack of guava candies—perks of being a loyal customer, right? Sadly, this wasn’t applicable is some more serious cases.
School was something Cynric liked. Not the actual purpose of it, no, but the fact that it was full of people. In fact, every setting where there are a lot of people, guaranteed there will be a Cynric to claim liking that setting. He greet a couple people as he entered the classroom, sitting down with his open bag on his lap for him to have fun on before the actual class. There weren’t many students yet; he hoped at least one of his classmates would be his friend. He could probably just open his phone for the social media, but he didn’t want to seem unapproachable for people.
“Hi.”
Cynric’s brows arched in immediate recognition of the voice. To immediately be recognized, one must be close to somebody. His relationship with Karen Hunter wouldn’t be described as “close,” though; it was just thanks to a certain, unforgettable event in the past that initiated this acquaintanceship. One that didn’t really matter anymore no matter what the time.
He smiled and waved back at her. “Good morning!” he greeted lightheartedly, reaching a piece of candy from his bag. He watched as she took the seat next to his before lifting it up to her. “Candy to start the first day?” he offered.
“You can say that again.” Tsumuji giggled holding hands with Niko. Niko smiled at her question,"I spent a few weeks in Hokkaido and then I spent the rest of the summer working. What about you, how was your summer?” Tsumuji thought about what she had done all summer. She had gone to business parties (her parents making her) she had model for teen girls swimsuits, going to Brisco (the world’s best multinational technology company) to see how things are and how she would run them. Writing till her hands can’t anymore, in private of course. Reading fairy tales, going to a horse race competition, was flirted on by her cousins best friend and let him touched her chest area because something… and went to the party “it was weird but fun” Tsumuji finally said giggling.
“I left early. I had to work the next morning.” Tsumuji blinked, “Aww that sucks”
He was frowning, Luna noticed. He was confused, and Luna didn’t understand why. “Is something wrong?” Luna finally got the courage to ask. “I might read it. It’s very interesting from what I heard. I’m more into video games.” Luna nodded, she played video games from time to time but was more interested in books. Because if you read one good book once and continue to read more, you will be stuck in web of books. Especially if you read Londrick’s, Estern, Sookist and Adricks.B books. Their characters had complex personalities, which Luna enjoyed a lot and the girls weren’t so ‘i’m not like other girls’ type of girls, they were down to earth and relatable. It was also mysterious filled with fantasy, Luna loved horror and fantasy a lot. Her favorite genre along with tragedy*.“Have you ever heard of the Legend of Zelda games?”* Luna nodded, “wasn’t it created in 1986 and was still popular up to 00s our parents generation?” Luna remembered all the times her dad would take about it like he was still a child, Luna wasn’t so interested in it but she loved the look on her father’s face. Though Luna liked other things from the 00s.
Ben smiled when Luna said the year the games were first created. You’re right! They were a huge hit with our parents generation. My parents never played them, but I saw a garage sale when I was riding my bike once. Decided to stop, and I found a couple of the games. Two for five bucks. I figured I might as well buy them. Been obsessed ever since.” He leaned over and unzipped his backpack. He reached in and pulled out a black 3DS, taking out the cartridge and handing it to her. “Breath of the Wild. I’m halfway through.” @Kristi - Luna
Tyler heard Xavier mutter something and walked away. Tyler said bye to his sister, and ran after Xavier. He caught up to him, breathing hard. This guy was fast. “Hey. What’s up? Are you ok?” He asked, concerned. He wasn’t usually like this, and that worried Tyler. @Caticorn - Xavier
Destiny could tell by the way her friend’s face lit up while talking about the game, that she was truly invested. She wanted that same excitement she was feeling. “That’s great to know. Hopefully the tasks don’t get too complicated though.” She looked behind her at the students going to their respective classrooms. “Sigh…my first period class is Science”” She rolled her eyes and looked at the ceiling. “Please hope that I don’t die of boredom.” She squeezed her friend in an embrace for probably the 50th time that morning. “See you at lunch girl.” She walked off to science class remembering that she had Mrs Chavey there who spoke in a monotone voice. Yep, she was definitely going to fall asleep on the desk.
Niko giggled with Tsumuji as she told them about her summer. “Honestly, that sounds like the best type of summer.” They said in response. “Aww that sucks” They nodded. “Yep.” They said while they nodded, remembering how that shift had gone. It definitely wasn’t one of their more enjoyable shifts, that’s for sure. “I only had one drink at the party, so I wasn’t hungover or anything, but it still sucked.” They continued as they walked down the hallway. “So, what are you most excited for this year?” They asked, curious.
