Sam couldn’t help but feel the change in Xavier’s voice when he mentioned Tyler. The words fractured when he uttered them instead of flowing gracefully from his soft lips, like a river. The fact that he spoke mechanically didn’t really effect Sam, but the tension began to rub off on her. It rubbed against her blue skin like gooey, unwanted slime. Once again, the energies of people she didn’t know that well seeped into her heart that remained open to all. Both good and evil.
Wait, why did he stutter when he mentioned Tyler and not Elijah? I mean, if he were to stutter then it should probably be upon the mention of his ex. At this point in time, it had not yet occured to Sam that they could both be his exes. Strong intuition, mediocre mind. Later, she would probably realize why this is going on. Upon recieving that piece of information, she will most likely find it easy to befriend him. The two of them both seemed to have their fair share of experience, and perhaps, similar taste in men. Surely, the two would thrive as friends if they ever managed to get past the awkwardness of this small talk.
Speaking of small talk, Sammy did not need this pointless conversation about costumes. She prides herself on the meaning of conversations. Mostly because she liked making actual strong connections with people, but part of it was also being quirky and different. The individuality complex that comes from believing in something unique is almost inevitable. At least for Garmie. You’d think being an adopted kid from africa with lesbian parents would be enough for her, but no, she had to be hindu too. She only tolerates small talk from cute guys, and occasionally, cute girls, because she would rather discuss nothing than stop talking to them. She’d let them go on just to hear them talk a little longer. And although Xavier is surely a cutie, he did not swing her way.
If he had just responded normally, she might have found herself trying to unite the group. But he didn’t seem to want to talk to the other boys, and so she wasn’t gonna try and convince him quite yet. This conversation seemed to have it’s own potential anyway. And above all, Sam was just concerned for this kid. You never know who people truly are, and Xavier deserved to be heard. “If you don’t mind me asking, why didn’t you approach them, if you know where they are?” It was a fair point, since he probably wasn’t waiting for little old Sam, and Sammy isn’t one to make things very personal off the bat. However, she does try to be sensitive.
