Blue Royalty: New Blood

“Yua, issho ni ite kudasai.” Niko cooed, chasing after their daughter, who had bolted as soon as they had released her from her car seat. They picked her up once they’d caught up with her, walking back to their car while their brother laughed at them. “Warau no wa yamate, kanojo o sagashi ni ikou.” They teased. He protested, trying to tell them that Jae, the girl in question, wasn’t his girlfriend but the fact that he was blushing made them smirk in satisfaction.

Keeping their hold on their daughter, who now had her arms wrapped around Niko’s neck, they walked through the carnival. The bright lights and sounds made Yua giggle as she looked around with a wide smile on her face. They looked around, trying to see what they should do first. As they looked, they saw a girl who they couldn’t say that they’d seen before. Feeling friendly, they walked up to her, putting their daughter down and holding her hand, waving at the girl with her free hand. “Hello!” They greeted her with a smile.

Leah was still looking around in awe, when-“Hello!” Leah jumped, instinctively putting her arms in front of her face. Oh, it was just one of her classmates. “Hello…cute girl.” She said, smiling down at the little girl in their arms. “Is she yours?” Leah was trying really hard not to scold them for getting pregnant so young, as her mother would, biting her tongue. Just. Don’t. Say. Anything. “Uhhhh…I’m Leah! What about you?”

Niko nodded in response to the girl asking if Yua was hers. They hoped that she wouldn’t judge them but at this point, they knew it was to be expected. “Her name is Yua.” They told her as the little girl let go of their hand and grabbed onto their leg, hiding from the stranger. They put their hand on top of her head as the other girl introduced herself as Leah. “It’s nice to meet you, Leah. I’m Niko.” They answered with a smile. “Are you new?” They asked out of curiosity.

Leah nodded, smiling when Yua hid behind her mother’s leg. “Hi Yua. How are you?” She asked gently. “Nice to meet you, too, Niko. No, I’ve been here since Junior year. Have you ever been to a carnival? I haven’t. It’s so bright and loud. Do you two want to walk with me?”

Dana Sloane

Had anyone asked a young Dana Sloane where her life would be in 40 years, the answer would’ve been far from her reality now. Its no secret that Dana never wanted children, but it still happened that she had sex with Justin Parker on the night of their senior prom and gotten pregnant and had a daughter nearly 39 years ago now. Dana had never been a nurturing or present mother to Jezebel growing up. She was practically still just a kid herself then, only 18 years old when Jezebel was born. She didn’t know what she was doing, and didn’t want to be a mother in the first place. When she could be away on a travel writing assignment, she often was. There were the better times of course, such as the occasional trip that Dana did bring Jezebel with her on, but overall Dana was far from being a caring mother. All she could really try to do was set Jezebel up for a life where she wouldn’t have to worry about being less than. She set Jezebel on a path to have powerful contacts, possibly a grand career of her own if she won blue royalty, and potentially even a marriage to someone even more powerful at some point. However, in Dana’s eyes, despite everything she did for her, all Jezebel seemed capable of was failure and being a disappointment. What more should she have expected from a mistake that she regretted. From the moment Dana had found out that Jezebel was pregnant, making the same mistake she had, she was done dealing with it. Dana was out of Jezebel’s life, but now years later Jezebel was getting married. Alright, it seemed as though Dana was wrong in her view of the boy she caught with Jezebel that day when they were young. Apparently he wasn’t as worthless and good for nothing as she had thought, as he had fame and money now. Though Dana was making an appearance, lets be clear, she certainly wasn’t there to be a good mother. Dana was a successful travel writer, but good press wouldn’t hurt. Playing the role of the mother of the bride would bring reader numbers up. Perhaps there was a part of her that just wanted to see what came of her daughter’s life, to possibly even be proud of her, but there was the other part that just saw the ways that she felt Jezebel would’ve been better off. However, when Dana showed up at the wedding, a guard was keeping her out, to which she was attempting to convince that she should be let in as the mother of the bride, but then came two other women her daughter’s age. “Yes, that’s me.” Dana said, confirming who she was. “My daughter doesn’t know what she wants, or what’s best, so let me in so I can be here for my daughter’s big day. Its not everyday your only daughter gets married.”

Of all of the many people there, there was one person he never would’ve expected to come up to him. Paige. Eddie turned to look at her as he heard the familiar British accent of the girl, and even he had to admit she looked great. There was a wow factor to match her confidence that he couldn’t deny. However, she once again had his name wrong, when it really wasn’t a difficult name to get right, but at this rate it seemed she’d never get it right. Though, Paige did mention their little venture into filming from that day in the classroom and how they hadn’t talked since. Eddie had seen her around, and even thought about talking to her, but he didn’t know what to say to her. People weren’t exactly a specialty of his, and movies don’t really give a good script for how to talk to the girl you barely know but made a sex tape with. “I… uh… fine I guess.” Well, fine is a relative term. Things had been kinda crazy before with the whole Amie situation a few weeks earlier, and now he was at a wedding, extremely out of his element, surrounded by a lot of people, so in this situation even before Paige showed up, he was very uncomfortable. The last wedding he had been to, was his oldest sister’s wedding, but everything for that one was kept low key, just family and a few family friends, nothing like this. “And I’m uh, just here with my sister. She wanted to surprise her girlfriend, and she just had me come along with her after picking her up from the airport.”

”I don’t know honestly, but it’s much easier to come up with an idea when they’re the part of the family who’d probably be excited unlike their father” she said with a shrug ”I mean Peter is almost Vc’s age when I had him, so telling him would probably go the same as telling vc about Peter, and vc herself I don’t know I think she’ll be happy, she loved Peter a lot why not just love another new kid?”

”pest control all the bloody way” she said in response as they made their way towards the Dana Sloane of the day. Standing there as she listened to Jess talk to her, Valerie let out a huff of air out her nose at Dana’s response ”Don’t you think it’s a little too late now?” she asked the woman ”you had almost 40 years to ’be there for your only daughter’, today just isn’t your day Dana” she added, making gestures as she emphasized being there for your only daughter.

It’s kind of funny don’t you think? It’s not every day your only daughter gets married, yeah, but it’s also not every day your only daughter has a baby, or graduates high school, or gets a successful career, or even gets bloody engaged. Who did she think she was, just coming uninvited and pestering them to let her in. Clearly, if Jezebel wanted her there, she would have invited her. But guess what… she didn’t

”sounds like a pretty good plan to me” he replies, glancing at the girl with a smile on his lips.

Julian laughed as she told him about the nugget title ”what can I say, guess I was destined to be a nugget” he said with a light smirk ”i have entered nugget territory, this life is a whole different thing now” he added partially joking. ”Wouldnt say I have secret skills, but it does sound pretty cool so I’ll go with that anyway”

For a moment she seemed to find herself distracted as looking towards something, he couldn’t tell exactly what it was, but as she regained her focus she came to him with a… tempting offer. ”Here?” he raised a brow at her ”I mean you wouldn’t get a no from me, but are you sure you’re ready for that?” he then asked

After leaving Kaya and Zek to themselves, Andy made his way through the venue. Seeing how so many people came with actual dates, it made him feel a bit icky, mostly for the fact that he didn’t have one, but also for the fact that it made him miss Ziah. He knew she’d love to be here, in general too but especially for Jordan’s wedding. So as much as Andy usually missed her, this whole event was only adding to it. Originally as he walked away from Kaya and Zek, his intention was to find the good ol groom, but instead he found a little nugget running towards him and clasping onto his leg with happy squeals “Annnndddddy, Annnndddyyy, Annnndyyyy,”

”hey nugget! I missed youu” he said with a smile and then saw little Aidan joining up after her, taking his other leg ”hey little guy” he said, bending down to the two of them ”missed you too” he said, rubbing aidans head and hugging the two nuggets.

“PPsssst doooo you knowww if cousin Jezzy has nuggets at this weeddinggg?” Shay asked him, and he looked around carefully ”i didn’t see any yet” he told her ”i mean theres you, there’s Aidan, but I haven’t seen any nuggets you can eat he added, pretending to bite her arm

Yua peeked out from behind her parent and in her tiny voice answered “Good.” When Leah answered, telling them that she’d been at the school since junior year, Niko couldn’t help but feel slightly embarrassed. “I am so sorry!” They apologized, hoping that they hadn’t offended her. They nodded in response to her asking if they’d been to a carnival before. “I went to one with my siblings the summer before my daughter was born.” They explained. “And yes, we’d love to walk with you.” They added with a smile.

A smile met her lips when her favooorrriiteee person told her that he missed her. She missed him too honestly. Why did Andy have to live sooooooooo far away? Shay always wanted to play with him and sing with him and eat food with him but noooo. At least he called her, and she alllwayss texted him when she could get her hands on the phone her mom and dad got her for emergencies. Only a few numbers were saved on that phone, and on the top of her favorites - after her mom and dad - was Andy. So it was fine she didn’t get to see him much… Shay knew how to make do with the time she had with him - in other words, she knew he’d be stuck with her for the rest of the party. Well, until she had to do the very serious duty of throwing flowers. “MMMMWahhh” Shay mumbled with a giggle as she kissed Andy’s cheek - Aidan following suit. “Did…did you know that I’m the flower girl? Do you want to see? I’ve been practicing,” Shay continued, pulling a few of the petal reserves she had in her dress pocket and throwing it up on top of them.

Another giggle left her lips as Andy tried to eat her. “Your so silllyyyyy, you can’t eat me Mr. Big Nugget. If you did, what would you do without me?” Shay asked with a didn’t-you-know tone of voice. For most of this time, Aidan had been letting her talk, but after she said that, she found Aidan pulling on Andy’s tux. “Can you tea…teach me how…how to play m…my guitar for Cristymiss?” with a little pleading expression on his features. Aidan had been trying to learn how to play the little thing since uncle Andy got it for his birthday a few weeks back.

“Woooow JP, bring down the bragging. You don’t want the nugget title to be taken away do you?” Amie added with a soft laugh. At the very least, Amie had to admit that JP was good company. He knew how to calm any situation down and honestly, she really enjoyed that. There weren’t many people she could be that way with, and surprisingly, JP had somehow fallen into the list of people she was. At the same time, her best friend… or former best friend Alex had been taken out of that list… as much as that hurt. Could anyone blame her though? How… how do you go back to being friends with someone who you kissed? Amelia Grace had messed it up… she knew that and maybe avoiding him wasn’t the answer but it was the only answer she knew she could do. And… well clearly he had moved on: from the edge of her eyes, she could see his hands in Sophie’s and she was… happy for them. Honestly… yes.

That didn’t mean it didn’t make her feel like absolute sh!t though. Maybe that was another reason the words left her mouth as she asked JP something that Amelia Grace one year ago would have never dared ask. Are you ready for that? She looked at him with raised eyebrows - and within that one sentence she felt pushed to grab his hand and lead him away from the festivities. Hand in hand, Amelia walked far away from where Elodie… and Phoebe and…Diego… and Alex and Sophie were… and simply pulled her date into a random room. She found herself in the gift room - clearly where they had brought all the guest’s wedding gifts to place. There was a large table in the side with gifts piled up it, and even surrounding the floor. Closing the door behind him, Amelia Grace pushed him against the same door, looking up at him with her eyebrow raised. “I’m not backing out, JP.” She whispered, pulling his lips down so that they were on hers.

Jessica was in the middle of rolling her eyes at Dana’s words when Val piped in, adding the honest question of Don’t you think it’s a little too late now and let’s be honest, it 100% was. You can’t not be a parent for 39 years and then decide, “What the hell, let’s give this thing a spin”. Being parents were something that both Val and Jess were well versed in, and a skill you learn as a parent is to recognize bad parents. Let’s be honest, both Val and Jess had more than their fair share of that, and while Jess understood the ability of one’s parents to come around like her own mother did, it wasn’t the same as what Dana did to Jezebel. “Love, didn’t you bloody kick your daughter out when she was pregnant and never want to see your granddaughter? By the way, Dana, Laurel’s a beautiful and bright girl… pretty sure she doesn’t get that from you. I’ll be honest, ma’am, you’re not getting in this party. So me and Val are giving you the opportunity to leave with a sense of grace, or we could also get security to pull you away from this entrance. It really is your choice,” Jess added. There was no remorse in her voice, just like there was no remorse in Dana when she practically disowned her daughter.

Looking at Dana, Jess sighed looking back at her watch to check how much time until the opening ceremony. "You have about a minute to make that choice, Ms. Sloane. Because Valerie and I have far more important things to worry about than this… and were a little stretched for time. "

”WHO… WHO downs champagne? WE do. No fancy people excuses, just do it,“ there was a mix of disappointment and entertainment on Zek’s face, turning to completely face Kaya. How dare she judge his drinking habits? Mean… Not that she was wrong and not that he wished he was in fact holding beer, but still… Mean. ”Thank you,“ a playful smile appeared on his lips the moment she agreed, jokingly rolling his eyes before doing the same thing. Now they’re ready to continue their save little dragon slayer mission…

Or not. ”You’re really willing to just give up on that poor boy… You keep disappointing me,“ saying it in more of a joking way, Zek took one last look at their surrounding before shifting his full attention to his dear friend. She was right. About both things: looking for him meant exploring and he probably found his parents… Don’t tell her Zek was kind of hoping they won’t have to go around looking for that kid’s parents with him… Not really a definition of fun. ”Cmon then,“ gently taking Kaya’s hand, an empty glass in his other hand, Zek glanced around for the nearest exit before he spotted… his old friend and his ex-girlfriend. Alex and Sophie. Not that he was jealous because, he was not… At least not now. That whole mess happened a while ago but he just… couldn’t understand how and why were the two of them together, here and now? How could Alex do something like that to her… again? So now he actually cares? Yeah, right.

”Wow,“ mumble escaping his lips, Zek started walking towards, what it seems like, an empty hallway, first replacing their glasses with the full ones. More drinks? Yes, thank you. Okay… distract yourself. ”Here,“ attempting to open the first door, it felt like there was someone leaning against it and not wanting to have anyone yell at them or stop them from exploring, Zek dragged Kaya down the hallway, turning on the first corner. Which led them to an open space with huge windows and a glass door leading to some kind of a backyard, field, whatever. It was quite beautiful. ”Would you be ballsy enough to have sex with someone, here in one of the rooms?“ Putting the glass down on the floor, Zek opened the door and leaned against the frame, pulling at a joint from his suit… Gotta come prepared. But that’s when he started laughing to himself and looked up at Kaya, ”Not suggesting it, don’t worry… Just, so many rooms and not knowing what’s happening got me curious.“ A goofy smile still on his face, he picked up the glass and took a sip, before asking, ”Got a lighter?“

Dorian didn’t care about himself in this moment, he knew what kind of person Daniel is, he was just sorry for literally everyone else in that room. The poor videographer Dori was sure Dan threatened to ruin his whole life if he didn’t send him the footage in less than 3 seconds, a photographer and other guys in the room who were pretending not to listen to this very interesting conversation… How could Jordan allow Daniel to be here? What kind of an idiot do you have to be? Sorry not sorry, buddy.
”So I have to be a hacker to deserve respect from my own kids, to have them be proud of me? Isn’t that kind of a fckd up way of thinking? Talking to you about something like that is ridiculous…” And he was getting tired of having to go over such stupid things with him. Not because the topic of their conversation was stupid but because Daniel was an idiot.

”Oh, wow. You’re so powerful Daniel, I’m always so in awe in your presence,” leaning against the door with Ethan in his hands, he had no idea why he was still in that room. This was going nowhere and he should know it will never end well. But here he was, listening to the pathetic guy and his pathetic superior act which only made Dorian laugh. And you think you’re great when you threaten to take someone’s family away from them? Come on everyone, a round of applause, please? What a nice statement. ”Trust me, if something like that happens, I’ll make sure she knows how disgusting and how much of a shtty person her dear cousin is,” giving Daniel aw, I’m sorry about that smile, Dorian opened the door and left the room, leaving everyone behind and telling himself he’s not coming back. He’ll just go find his other kids… While doing that… Ethan needs to learn another word! ”Let’s try this again, champ… Say dada… Da- Nooo, no. Da. Da… Da - oh fcking hell. Again, buddy-” ”Fck.” Dada…”

A smile met his lips as he watched the video of Ethan saying his first word on his phone, immediately texting the video to his cousin as he took a seat on the couch once again. It was almost as if Dorian simply became more and more stupid with every word that left his mouth. “DeLoughrey, being a hacker is a bonus. I’ve done more productive work in 10 minutes of my existence than you’ve done in the entirety of your life. Hell… and it’s not just me… look at what your wife does and look at what you do. Before you, Dorian, Jess was quite literally one of the best investigative journalists in the world. I mean, she still is but you’re holding her back. Do you know the amount of jobs she turned down because of you. Without you, she probably would have taken down a cartel, a criminal ring, a terrorist and so much more but no. She’s too busy being stuck in Miami because you like to kick a soccer ball into a goal. Hell, you’re nothing without her and I think you know it. That’s why you’re holding on so fcking tight and not letting her go.” Dan sighed, rolling his eyes. Did Dorian never realize that he was holding Jess back from her full potential? Literally. Maybe he just didn’t know the sheer amount of jobs Jess was offered but turned down over the past than years. So, you want to ask who the assh0le in the room is? Maybe Dan’s one of them, but Dorian DeLoughrey is a big one too. The only difference was that Daniel Parker accepted it.

His frown deepened at Dorian’s last words before he left. Dan knew what Dorian was talking about… and he also knew that if Dorian ever told Jess, she would never look at him the same. It was true, Dan made mistakes and it was… his fault that she lost her kids. Maybe Dan was too confident in thinking Dori had some sort of self-respect in keeping his trap shut… but clearly… he may have to be more careful.

A sigh left his lips as he stood up, walking out the door a few minutes after Dorian and back to where the main festivities were. After using the it’s for the bride trick again, he had another full glass of scotch that he drowned. He would have stayed there, except a smile met his lips when he saw one of the few people in the world that could make him smile. Walking up behind her, Dan wrapped his arms around his wife, turning her around to pull her in for a kiss. After a few seconds, he pulled away “Have I ever told you how much Dorian fcking DeLoughrey gets on my damn nerves love? I want to murder him… I swear to fcking god.”

A sigh left his lips as he placed his head on his wife’s sholder. “On the plus side, this venue has an elevator if you want to…” he started, a smirk on his lips as he moved away.

Leah shrugged slightly at Niko’s apology. “Hey, don’t apologize. It’s ok. It’s not your fault.” She said, looking at Niko. “Since you’ve been to one before, what should we do first?” She asked, looking around at all the attractions. She then spotted a cottony pink substance being sold, and gestured to it. “What’s that?”

Okay, so, suddenly the idea of staying and celebrating a wedding didn’t sound like a great idea now, especially is Quinn Castillo would be there. Annie knew she couldn’t avoid this forever, in the meantime she could d@mn well try though it only made this moment that much worse as he was unavoidably stood in front of her. How was he even here? He wasn’t related to either families, did he come here just to bring this up? No, shut up, there was no use in finding a reason, the main point was he was here, and he was bringing it up. Pulling it up from depths of Annie’s repressed mind, and revealing the still-unprocessed emotions from the few months prior.

“I need you to stay out of this, okay? Stay the f^ck away. Please.”

And now a direct product of her actions stood in front of her. Expecting… an explanation, answers, something. “I-” This was why she had prolonged this conversation for so long. Annie had nothing, nothing she could say that would make any of it okay. It was her fault, that was the inevitable truth. “I don’t know what you want me to say,” Annie told him with a newly-formed hardened emotionless expression on her face. “You can’t be here right now, this can’t happen now,” She continued. Maybe she- definitely- had no place to say that to him, but this was her father’s wedding. As much as she hated that it was happening, Annie couldn’t let this sh!t overshadow… what already was a sh!tshow in itself.

Honey? Pretty good? Not honey, and not pretty good but handsome. We’ll forgive her this time. ”Why thank you,” placing his hand in the pocket of his gray suit, Finley brought a glass to his lips, taking a moment to quickly look around them. Okay… her annoying kid was nowhere to be seen but it was such a pity her dear niece was not there, looking at this pretty little scene. It was always more exciting with her seeing what was happening with her breathtaking aunt and not her, but sometimes he’d rather have it this way so he could really focus on the beauty in front of him. And about her kid… let’s just ignore the fact that Fin was closer to his age and not Nora’s. Gotta love those single moms, am I right?

”My date?” Raising his brow, Fin took a long sip of the champagne, keeping his eyes on Nora. Was it lame to say he did not have a date? It probably was, but it would be lamer to say he was not invited and he had to crash this ridiculous wedding. ”My pretty little date couldn’t make it, but…” a subtle shrug of his shoulders, flashing a sweet smile as his gaze lowered. You had to agree that she was a stunner. ”I am not complaining.” Listen, Fin did not like smiling for a long time, not even in these situations but you gotta do what you gotta do. Forcing that sweet smile almost became a habit around pretty ladies. And if she was invited, he could pretend he was her date if anyone asked… Trying to avoid trouble. ”I heard the wedding is about to begin,” Finley spoke up again, putting his hand out for Nora to take. Hopefully. ”Shall we go outside?”

While Destiny didn’t agree with Adonis saying Diego was bland, she did agree with him about Phoebe. “Yeah…I don’t know what Diego sees in her.” Destiny said while shrugging her shoulders. Now they were standing by the food station and Destiny didn’t understand why Adonis was moving way too fast. As she stood there awkwardly, He explained what he meant but it wasn’t what she was expecting. “What do you mean? I meant we talked about the strangest body parts we have, like do you secretly have 6 fingers?”

She blinked feeling confused. Maybe he actually meant that? I mean she’s not the smartest tool in the box but that didn’t sound anything like what he said before. “Oh, I-I don’t have six fingers. Or anything similar to that haha.” That was probably the weirdest question anyone has ever asked her. “I don’t know what to expect from you anymore.”
She let out an exhausted laugh. “Let’s just go on the horse carousel ride dude.”
