It proved to be true that Annie’s question was a loaded one as soon as Paige began to recite the answer and- WHAT? Annie was related to Paige Pierce. Paige Pierce, as in the person she wanted no association with, sharing DNA with her, and Annie was… a Pierce? Or Paige was a- …whatever the name on her lost birth certificate was. “We’re… what? How, what the fvck? And what, you knew, and- what- is this why you’ve had such a fvcking issue with me the second you got here?” Annie exclaimed with irrational blame towards Paige, which she realised as being that after a moment passed. “I know, okay, you didn’t know, I know, forget what I said,” She continued before Paige could say anything, before pushing herself up off the hospital bed, her stand followed by a rushing pain in her head, but it was overruled by the her thoughts that were also up there. Whatever the details of this newly found out relationship was secondary to Paige’s first disclosure.
Ignoring Paige’s comment about her poor decision to leave the room, Annie looked up and down the corridor, finding the private room assumed to have her father in. “… Dad?” She started, progressing towards the door though her tracks were interrupted by the doctor who had noticed her who stood as guard of the door. “I’m sorry, Mr Williams cannot be seen right now, if I could redirect you to the waiting roo-” “No- what? You can’t- I’m his- can you move out of-” Her overwhelming need to do so caused her to attempt to push past. She didn’t mean to cause this, she didn’t want this, and Annie just wanted to tell him that, and that she… was sorry and very fvcking stupid. “I just need like 2 minu- hey get the fvck off!” Her attention reverted to a second doctor from behind her who had gently taken her arm to sway her away from the room and towards the waiting room. Though upon that distraction, the first doctor had turned again to the room, closing the door on her.
Okay, great, maybe they had beaten her in this. Annie kicked the door out in frustration before she was led into the waiting room. “Okay, you made your fvkcing point, you can get off me I’m literally going,” Annie remarked through heavy breathing, before she made it into the room and she was standing alone. Even though she probably should, Annie really didn’t want to go back to the hospital room with Paige - she wasn’t exactly in a 23andMe style genetic fvcking deep-dive to discover her family tree, especially while her own one was breaking down. Besides, she had been fine up until now living in ignorance of biological family.
That was when she noticed… Ricky sat in the waiting room. Someone she hadn’t seen since her performance at the wedding. The fact that they hadn’t interacted since then had brought her to the conclusion that he had been successfully pushed away. So why was he here now? What even was the correct thing to say to him now, in these circumstances? “What, have you come to announce you’re secretly my cousin or something?” Not that. But she said it to him anyway, her voice softened by the drained state she was in. “No, ew, please don’t say that,” She continued through closed eyes and a sigh, regret towards her own words taking over. Annie then sat at the seat next to him, putting her head in her hands and her eyes on the corridor she had just come out of. “What are you doing here?” She asked him, with no change in the direction she was looking.
