in between dances II and III • with Albina

Cassian found himself caught off guard by Albina’s shifting emotions. Her anger seemed to melt away as she playfully accepted his apology. It was a side of her he remembered well—her playful, flirtatious nature.

he glanced at her, his gaze filled with a mixture of regret and sincerity. “If I had seen you earlier, I would have wanted to apologize,” he admitted softly. “But the truth is, I couldn’t bear to face you again, knowing I had hurt you and fearing I might hurt you once more.”

He watched her closely, his gaze filled with a complicated mix of emotions. He knew that his reasons might not serve as a valid excuse, but the truth remained that he had hurt her, and the idea of causing her further pain weighed heavily on him.

Cassian’s eyes met Albina’s, and the twinkle in her gaze did not escape his eyes, a silent declaration of unspoken desires . It spoke volumes, and within him, he battled with a cascade of questions. Was pursuing this path the right choice? Was it worth the risk? What if his parents discovered , or even worse, if word reached the ears of the queen herself?

“As much as I’d like to make it up to you,” A sigh escaped his lips, heavy with the weight of the world they now found themselves in, “I fear it may not be that simple.” His concern for her safety was evident in his words. “My parents may hold their opinions, but I would never wish to see you harmed in any way. You deserve more than clandestine meetings in hidden corners and whispered secrets, my lady, so much more.” he told her. he couldn’t help but let his fingers gently trace the curve of her cheek, the warmth of her skin beneath his touch sending a shiver down his spine. “But we both know,” he added softly, “that I cannot give you the life you truly deserve.” His gaze remained locked on hers, the intensity of his emotions echoing the unspoken truth that lingered between them.

He then paused for a moment, his eyes locked with hers, the unspoken emotions lingering in the air. “I won’t put you at risk,” he declared firmly, his resolve unwavering. “No matter how much I may desire otherwise.”
Cassian knew that their connection was charged with history and emotion, but he also understood the gravity of the world they lived in. In the shadows of high society, they had to tread carefully, lest they were consumed by the consequences of their actions.

his gaze remained solely on her, his eyes reflecting his genuine concern. “I won’t let any harm come your way, Albina. I hope you understand that.”
