Chicago- Michael Jackson

As Harrison took his leave from Corin, he sauntered over to have a treat a. It was a petite slice of cake, so small it could only satisfy a tinybug, yet Harrison indulged in no less than three. On any other day other than this, he would have drink, yes but he did not want to drink too much this season as it was the seasoning of his sister’s debut and he had already caused too much chaos though without truly meaningtoo. Like his mother said, less of ‘Harrison’ today and more of ‘earl davis’ but one cannot easily erase their nature, no? Well, he could try and he will try by not drinking.

While savoring his second slice of cake, a coterie of ladies began to approach him, coyly tucking errant locks of hair behind their ears and fluttering their eyelashes. Their intentions were evident -they wanted to be asked to dance. Harrison, however, harbored no inclination to dance with any of them. It wasn’t that they were ugly; quite the contrary, they were exceedingly comely. Yet, their beauty was banal, conventional, and utterly uninspiring. It was the sort of beauty one encountered every day, and it bored him to death. What was the use of such common beauty? A beauty that is just a replica of the other, following the standards that is said to be the ‘one’. A common beauty, Harrison thinks always almost usually also meant a weak mind. And Harrison, did not want a lady with a weak mind, he prefers one that can entertain him, argue with him, quote the great poets, or have a mysterious allure to them. Still, he bestowed upon the ladies a charming wink and politely conveyed that he was not prepared to dance at this precise moment. He assured them that there were other fine gentlemen more than willing to oblige. It took more two minutes of gentle persuasion to free himself from one lady’s tenacious grasp, finding both amusement and irritation in their relentless pursuit. At least that was a sign that they really a little less weak mind than he thought .

But perhaps, he shall dance- not with any of these ladies around him as they did not captivate him but he should find one to pass time. His gaze canvasses around the room, seeking someone who strikes him as intriguing, someone who goes beyond the surface- like an artwork.Aah, Disappointment washed over him as he observed that most of the available ladies appeared to be replicas of one another - excessively demure, overly timid, or simply ordinary. They would not provide stimulating conversation or make striking wives, at least not good wives for him. He could never fall in love with them and a dull wife shall make dull children just like a dull man will sire dull children, it was important that both parents were not dull or boring to create the best of children… Moreover, just as he was about to resign himself to this lackluster reality, his eyes alighted upon a vision. She stood tall, surpassing most of the other ladies in stature, possessed a captivating brown complexion, luxuriant ebony tresses, and captivating features. Her attire was a striking deviation from the norm, an homage to her homeland, India. Ah, an Indian lady. Memories of his time in India and a dear friend he had made there, someone who bore a striking resemblance to her, briefly flashed through his mind. She kind of looked like…no, he was seeing things! Yes that was it, it was just that anytime he thought of india he thought of her.

As he observed the captivating lady stranded on the dance floor, a smirk graced his lips. Indeed, she promised to be an intriguing dance. Just as he began to approach her, his countenance paled upon the sight of the one lady he had no desire to encounter - Lady Svetlana, the daughter of a duke for whom he had once had a thing with when he was young. When one strives to avoid chaos, it inevitably gravitates towards them. Harrison turned away abruptly as Lady Svetlana’s gaze locked onto him and hastened toward the beguiling lady who had captured his attention.

The lady, stood there, gazing into the void, perhaps lost in her thoughts. Harrison gently tapped her shoulders and said, “You most forgive my intrusion, but why does such a captivating lady as yourself finding yourself lingering in solitude? Is the beauty to be stared at that alludes my eyes,”’ He paused and added, “No, that cannot be so as beauty is standing directly in front of me now, in the form of a human.”, He continued, “Instead of staring into the void, i think you will find it better if you stared at your own reflection, though the mirrors, paintings or any other human creation bound to be created shall never do you any justice as your beauty is simply the speed of light, hard to catch.” Harrison shook his head, “I apologize I am blabbering, I am being a blabbering fool who blabbers, let me stop the blabbering before i get to nervous standing in your presence,” He went down on one knee, yes he knew he said he shall not be dramatic again or cause a scene, but it was Harrison- Harrison was simply not capable of simplicity he was a man of complex. “If I am on my knees, I can’t blabber anymore so my lady treat me like a poor man you see in the streets and please be favorable upon me and offer me a dance,”
