“Lord Fuller … If you mean the meaning behind your first name … I do not know the meaning of Edgar, but I know some German, althought not enough to be to your liking and I know your last name means pen, if I’m not mistaken. Now I’m fascinated, I would like to know the meaning of Edgar. Do you know it?”
As he talked about being in a large group of friends Abigail kept silent becuase she knew what she wanted to say and she wouldn’t allow herself to say it. She wanted to talk of a chance meeting she had with Edgar some time ago, but she couldn’t mention it for it would ruin them both.
"No dietary restrictions within the rest of your family?” “None whatsoever. I’ll tell my father of this, I’m not sure if he would come becuase he is busy … But a dinner party will be a welcome disctraction for him. You see he’d burried himself in his work when our mother died … Now she’s dead and burried and he’s almost like dead and figuratively burried with papers. You don’t mind if I use your dinner as a means to get my father reacquinted with society?” She smiled as he apologized for forgetting she likes books. She thought it was funny how somebody who seems so smart and put together flubbed like that, but she didn’t believe it to have anything to do with his inteligence. She was caught off guard by him saying he considers her a friend and her smile faded. “You consider me a friend, My Lord?” She asked, happily surprised. “I’m glad, because I considered you a friend since you first helped me. I didn’t believe you had reason to consider me a friend, though … That’s why I’m surprised.”
