As Finch spoke about having has a pleasant evening, Albina felt some jealousy. Her evening had been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. She then looked over at Miss Bridget Beckham as Finch spoke of her, Albina had found herself quite eager to acquaint herself with the miss is question, and educate herself on the disability she has. Unfortunately she had not had the chance to yet. “I am pleased to hear you have been enjoying your evening thus far. Miss Bridget Beckham seems like a most charming lady.”
Albina was happy to have a moment of peace with Finch, not having to worry about doing anything that could ruin her chances for a match, for they had already determined they were not a romantic match the previous season. She appreciated how he also talked back to her in a less formal manner. “Of course, Finch, you have but to ask, and I shall be at your service” she replied, in a sense that was normally polite and formal, but now was meant in a more lighthearted way, she spoke it in a manner almost making fun of the etiquettes and way of speaking and interacting. “Do not hesitate to ask if you need assistance navigating the intricacies of female company, for I have, you see, garnered quite the expertise in discerning what a lady desires.” Albina replied with a playful yet friendly tone, her words carrying a mischievous hint. Truth be told, while Albina was fond of Finch as a friend, she had found his flirt game to be lacking last season. She was not afraid to gently let him know, even had teased him with it before, but if there was anything she could do to help him improve, she was most willing to help him.
“As for the state of my evening, quite frankly, one could safely conclude that it has descended into depths of despair even deeper than the gloomiest of nights from the past season, when, as you are aware, I was subjected to the tedious waltzes of those seasoned gentlemen, most widowed, with whom I had the misfortune of dancing.” she spoke these words softly, careful that no one but Finch could hear them. She did not want these words to offend any of the old men she had been dancing with, for they all had high places in society and saying this could do her and her family serious damage. Nevertheless her words carried a hint of exasperation, and her expressive eyes revealed a flicker of frustration with the evening’s events. Gentlemen after gentlemen she had spoken with tonight, they all had hurt her in one way or another.
