With all the chaos of her debut season, her conflicts with her mother and investigations on her sister, Lydia had scarcely the time for moments with her brother, not nearly as much as she would normally. So when Cassian had pulled her aside, a wave of surprise mixed with relief rushed over her. Surprise, as it had become an increasingly rare occasion for someone to show concern for Lydia in the Ellis estate. She had become accustomed to her frowns and melancholy being overlooked that she almost forgot it was something that would actually appear out of place to someone looking.
As Lydia listened to his response to her honesty, she found that not only did he understand but begin to suggest how they can resolve her situation. It only took Cassian hinting at the idea for Lydia’s energy to spark up again, a smile growing - even if prematurely. “Do you recall what Aurelia had suggested? Two Ladies’ teas ago?” Lydia questioned, letting the memory come back to him before she continued. “I am sure that a wardrobe such as yourself’s would be rather ideal for executing such a scheme,” She proposed, waiting for the slightest inclination of agreement before heading for Cassian’s chambers.
When the pair were rummaging through potential garments, Lydia began to wonder how this year had been going for her brother. “Do tell, is there anyone this season you picture your future Duchess?” She asked him, her eyes scanning through the clothing in front of her for what would best work as a disguise.
