══✿══╡But no, I won’t sit still, look pretty ╞══✿══
Lydia sorted through her brother’s various attires, the shirts and blazers and she looked to the owner of them. “Oh to be a male that doesn’t have to bother themselves with corsets and crinolines and other useless elements,” She told him, among this finding the explanation as to why herself and her sister had always needed longer to get ready. “Though I would be interested to see you attempt, brother,” She conspired, amusement waving over her as she looked across to him. “What do you say, any aspirations to sneak into the Ladies’ tea?” Lydia asked despite knowing that this particular role reversal would be a scheme that would probably only live in her imagination.
As the pieces of the outfit began to come together, Cassian gave Lydia the insight into how his season was going. Though his answer was brief, as it appeared not much had been occurring for him. But that wasn’t anything to be ashamed of, Lydia knew that much. “I couldn’t have worded it any better myself, Cass,” She agreed to his last sentiment. “So it’s settled, we shall never settle,” Lydia declared. Though she knew, once again, that this was just a mere fantasy, and to never marry was not a viable option for them.
The conversation naturally shifted over to focus on Lydia, as Cassian asked her a similar question as to how things were going. There had been a lot occurring for her, none of which to do with finding a suitor, though she didn’t know how to explain the majority of it. “Being in my debut season is the least of my concerns,” Lydia told him as she headed towards the washroom to change, knowing Cassian would know what she meant considering their sister. “Nothing our parents are approving of,” She continued, as she proceeded to disguise herself as a man.
Stepping out, Lydia revealed her new outfit. From the waistcoat, to the jacket and the tactical hat to cover her hair, she would consider herself unrecognisable. If she did say so herself. “What do you think?” Lydia asked Cassian. Though before he could answer, she waved in his face as if he hadn’t been looking properly. “It is I, Lydia, remember?” She reminded him, as if her costume were to be so good he had forgotten it was her. “Except it is not. It is… Linus… E… Elli… Elliot,” She declared, “Mr Linus Elliot,” She repeated with more conviction.
Hands in pockets, appreciating that aspect of wearing trousers, Lydia headed for the door. Before doing so, she picked up her clothing from before. “I suppose I shall keep this in the carriage. Just in case of an emergency switch back,” She planned out loud. “Now, let us finally depart,” Lydia announced, leading the way towards the carriage that head been intended for Cassian, standing alone as Aurelia must have left in impatience.
