Backstory: Recent M.I.T. doctorate grad of particle astrophysics, Andromeda Armstrong’s once promising career ended the fateful day she boarded that space shuttle. In pursuit of a further understanding of how the particles that make up the universe interact with each other, Andromeda joined a team of other researchers to test the effects of a particle collider in a zero gravity environment. Upon activation, the collider’s particle containment unit failed and the ensuing explosion tore the shuttle apart and exposed her to the vacuum of space. As if that bit of overkill wasn’t enough, Andromeda was also bombarded with all manner of energy and particles while being subjected to the freezing temperatures. Instead of dying, however, Andromeda’s molecules had somehow bonded with the particles and very fabric of the universe itself. The trauma of the event caused her to lose consciousness and hurl endlessly through space, until eventually being pulled into Earth’s atmosphere and falling like a shooting star.
Afraid her life was over and of the monster she saw in the mirror, Andromeda hid herself from her friends and family, thinking it was better they believed she died in explosion. She now seeks to reinvent herself and found Camp Solace where she hopes to find someone to help her start her new life, and maybe, just maybe someone she can trust enough to tell who she really is.
