If the hallway is 6ft wide, and the last 6ft has a carpet going the other way, then what way could that carpet be going?
It’s a hallway. Not every hallway is straight. To his right is a dead end. To the left is not a dead end. The carpet is there going the other direction because that other direction is more of the hallway. He can’t see it go any further, because it is a corner.
