Repost from @ShanniiWrites
What she said remains how I feel. The whole comment section for the post is just a mess on Instagram. “If you’re straight, cis, het. you can’t be featured.” I don’t like these limitations and dictating they’re doing. Especially with them excluding bisexuals. I guess the option for the sexuality and the Mc being a bisexual as cannon should be shot out of the trash?
Anyway, what are your thoughts on this?

I think straight people can be featured but I feel that if there are LGBTQ+ authors with well written LGBTQ+ stories then they should be considered more

Before I was more on if the authors fit the theme then that was good enough but I’ve been seeing the points that you guys have made and it really does make sense that the story is what is being seen more. I’m still in between because I know that people only include things just because they think they should be rewarded for it but then again, people are not reading the author but the story.
I’m just so inbetween that its making me mad

Isn’t the shelf supposed to be for LGBTQ+ protagonists? Why does it focus on the author? They did that same thing with Langdon. (I got into a row with her)

i personally like when cis and/or straight authors have a mc who’s part of the lgbtq+ community RESPECTFULLY. it’s nice seeing them try to represent others in a non stereotypical or shameful way. to me, it doesn’t matter as much about the author as it does the story and characters.
