As we all know, there are way many people on Earth who smoke and put poison into their body by doing it, and it definitely causes deaths.
Moreover, there is smoking among teens. Two of my classmates smoke, and one of them told me that she’s been smoking since the age of 13 (more or less). I told her what I was thinking of it - smoking in such a young age is very dangerous and it only puts life at risk. The sad thing is that some parents allow their children smoke although their young age. I personally think them letting their children ruin their health at a young age is totally wrong. And of course, people who help teens get cigarettes aren’t lack.
Of course if you’re of the age you are allowed to smoke legally, then okay. But I still think you shouldn’t ruin your health for cigarettes. And I think you should take into consideration that it’ll not be easy for you to quit smoking (believe me, a classmate of mine tried to stop smoking, but then she came back to it).
If you don’t smoke and you know someone who does, then never be afraid of telling him not to smoke next to you (I don’t know what about you, but I just can’t tolerate the smell of cigarettes. I just hate it.), 'cause the cigarette’s smell can harm your health.
But big time, if you want to smoke, then I can’t help it. Just don’t do it in front of my face. But I suggest you not to do it, especially at such a young age.
So here are some questions for you:
Do you smoke? If so, then when and why did you start smoking?
If you don’t smoke, would you like to? If yes, then why?
If you smoke, do you regret starting to smoke? Would you ever like to quit smoking?
What do you think of teens smoking at a young age?
Note:
Everyone here is allowed to state their opinions. I don’t have any problems with you debating, but keep it respectful.
No, because I don’t want lung cancer, gum disease ect. I always see those scary anti smoking commercials where the people have to use a voicebox to talk
I don’t think they should be smoking at that age. They earlier they start the higher risk for cancer. They should just enjoy their childhood before all of the dangerous effects take a toll on their health.
No I don’t although I have had one cigarette in my entire life and I hated it
No it’s not for me, I don’t like the taste or the feeling
I do regret it because it tasted awful and really hurt my chest
More needs to be done to reduce it. My friends have been smoking from a young age (12). I’m all for minding my own business but I don’t understand why you would do that at such a young age.
I’ve only smoked one cigarette. It was a couple weeks ago and it was pretty nice ngl because I did it with my sister. (I’m not recommending it just tying to be honest)
I don’t want to ‘smoke’ per say. But every one in a while perhaps. (Once it’s legal, it’s 21+ here)
I don’t, but I do think it’s a bad idea if you struggle with addiction.
It’s definitely bad. (There’s a reason why it’s supposed to be 18+)
I would never like to start smoking, because I see what it does to my classmates. Some of them can’t even run 50 metres without coughing by now…
I think that it’s dangerous for teens to smoke, because they don’t know how to deal with addictions yet. Many of those who said that they just want to try it once are now part of the group that smokes at least 5 cigarettes each day…
And it’s not only bad for your health, it’s also bad for the environment. A teacher told me one week ago that it takes nature at least 15 years to clean itself from the toxic substances in a cigarette. I’m sure that I’ll never start smoking because I care too much about my health and the environment.
Personally I haven’t ever smoked and I don’t think I ever will… At one moment I was really close to doing it tho, during my holiday multiple people offered me to try it. But I just can’t stand the smell, it literally makes me feel sick…
I think it’s not a good thing when people start smoking at a really young age since you can’t overlook the possible consequences yet at that age…
Yes I do. I started when I was 16 and living in dorm, basically I started with my former best friend, with no reason, not trying to fit in, I just liked the taste
I do not particuraly regret it. I mean we all have to die of something, I can get hit by a car tmrw I quitted when I was pregnant and started again after breastfeeding.
I knew people who were smoking at 12 and that really too soon for my opinion. But people 15 and up smoking is a pretty normal thing here in my country, even tho its illegal.
I wouldn’t want to smoke. Knowing the health risks it wouldn’t be worth it to me.
A lot of people smoke in my area and also use e-cigarettes - you can get them at corner shops and we have a lot of those. Avoiding second-hand smoke is like a skill I had to pick up on but even then the times where I accidentally breathed in were horrible. It’s a personal decision to smoke but it’s important to know that it’s affecting the people around you and the environment.
No I don’t. And I’m not planning on doing so ever. I just really hate cigar smoke ~Coughs dramatically~
Nope, I wouldn’t like to at all. It’s weird, I’ve planned on me being drunk like I know that’s gonna happen one day but I really can’t stand cigar smoke.
I don’t really care as long as they don’t smoke right in front of my face. I mean, do what you wanna do.
Sometimes especially if I’m going through a bad day. And I started last year (my junior year) that’s when I tried it. I don’t smoke on a daily tho.
I’ve only vaped I’m not an active smoker like most people IK but I regret vaping but there’s other things but that’s a little more personal.
No clue since I am one and started while 16 the same age as both my parents idk I have certain believes on smoking.
But honestly I’m not like a huge fan I don’t believe in doing it alllll the time and like selling my soul for a pack. But I also have some Eh with some things that people smoke.
Nope, I can’t even breathe, it makes me start coughing.
Absolutely not, it’s wayyyy too expensive.
I don’t care. Teens can’t smoke when they are 16 but they can drink alcohol? What a weird mindset. Both are harmful, but it’s still not my business to decide what people do. I have never smoked but I have tried drinking, I can tell the latter is sh-t and honestly, I’m sick of people being ok with drinking but not smoking.
Day 1: I like smoking!
Day 2-31: i like smoking!
Day 32: I got to stop, but I’m too lazy
Day 33-infinity: This is going to be my last, no more.
So yeah, it’s just like being on a diet, for some people, they procrastinate.
Y’all are going to regret it so badly. The life is yours, you can do whatever you want. If you think you’re an invincible rebel, then go ahead. When non-smokers reaches their adulthood, they can support themselves, but when smokers reaches adulthood, they need someone to support them. Why? Because someone needs to help them wih their medical fees.
Either day, smoking is bad for so many reasons. E-cigarettes are bad as well. Stop smoking kids, find a better alternative for you to be addicted, like drink some carbonated drinks or drink a cup of coffee.
No, and I never tried it because when I was young, I had some relatives who would always go outside to smoke after dinner, and I hated the smell.
Nope.
A lot of them do it because of peer pressure, out of curiosity (parents or friends smoke), or because they think it’s ‘cool’, without thinking about the long-term consequences.
Don’t do it. Even if you just want to try, it’s not going to make your life any better. Choosing not to smoke doesn’t make you any less of an adult. Deciding just to “have one” doesn’t always work, and can lead to addiction.
I do. I started 7 or 8 years ago, I was 20 at the time. I had a lot of sh*t happen at the time, and I was doing a lot of self-destructive stuff, including smoking. It stuck with me.
Well, I regret only partially. I know it is bad for my health. It’s more of an emotional attachment, then physical addiction to me. When I started smoking I used it to calm myself, and now it mostly associates with emotional comfort. I do plan to quit at some point tho. But so far commercials aren’t helping, and I actually saw cancered lungs, so it didn’t motivate me too xD
It’s bad regardless of age. I’m not sure what’s the difference between smoking affecting teens and adults, so hard to tell.
