ONYX
Onyx glanced up as Elliot began asking… or at the very least trying to ask a question. He certainly beat around the bush a little bit before getting to his point.
“Whose kid are you, anyways? I’m sure a lot of the students here have incredible or legendary parents… or parents. Mine is Little John, Robin Hood’s companion.”
Onyx ignored the rest of what he had to say, considering how to respond to that. They didn’t want to give away their life story after all, so it’d probably be best to pretend to know where her mother was. “My mother is Fionnuela of Lir.” Onyx replied shortly. “Never knew my father.” They added, shrugging to show that it was of no consequence. They never knew their mother, either, h-ll Onyx was pretty sure the woman was dead; but Elliot didn’t need to know that. Eager to divert the conversation back to him, Onyx took another bite of their toast before asking,
“Do you get on well with your dad?” Onyx had read about Robin Hood in stories, so they knew the gist of the story, but nothing about children.

“Well I like you and isn’t it all that matters we both have at least one friend.”
Colm nodded, grinning at Brooks. “Well, I think I can get behind that,” He said. After all, one was more than enough for now. Colm smiled, remembering Olive’s refusal to come here at first. Half of this was for her sake. Olive needed to understand that Alice couldn’t be the only human she held in fondness. Maybe, if he was lucky, Olive would be able to learn the nicer qualities of humans during her time at the school.
“Im not sleeping yet Colm and I just feel… safe with you.”
Colm smiled, his facing lighting up in happiness. “I’m glad you feel that way,” They spoke softly. It was certainly an improvement from the kid who had refused to hold a conversation with them beforehand. “Ok, trivial questions time,” Colm announced, chuckling and the randomness of it. “If animals could talk, which do you think would be the rudest?” He asked. Easy conversation topic, but it would help him puzzle out Brooks’ personality more at the same time.
