Personality: Aodghan took after his father - an amazing warrior at heart. He was always proud to be his father’s son, even prouder to hear about the similarities they shared. Despite being raised by Fionn, Aoghan still held him accountable for what happened to his father. Some may call it immature, others unfair, Aodghan saw it as just. The man had taken away his and Aoife’s father, he shouldn’t have been cleared for all his crimes because of one good deed. Not that Aodghan wasn’t clear of crimes himself, he had harmed people and families before, he just never considered the consequences of his actions.
Aodghan was raised on a one track mindset: anyone who tried to harm the clan was bad, so everyone that tried to hurt his clan felt his wrath. However, if you weren’t in any way trying to harm him, he was gentle as a frog. He was always a little paranoid about someone attempting to harm him, yet everyone kind of is. Aodghan was never very good at school, but he always had plenty of friends. Whether it had been for his adopted father being the chief, his biological father being one of Fionn’s greatest fighters, his mother’s irresistible beauty, or his unique trait in which he never tried being strong. Yes, he trained daily. Aodghan simply had no control over his strength. Help a little bug in need? Bye-bye bug. Help move a chair? Have fun sitting on splinters and broken bits of wood.
He never had a great relationship with his sister and he blamed himself for it. If he had been more supportive maybe she would have been more interested in talking to him. Of course he received attention from others, but he almost felt as though he was betraying his sister. She hadn’t done anything wrong, so why was he the favorite and she wasn’t? Well, Aodghan had never been very curious until recently when he found out she was going to a new school. Aodghan asked to attend and that’s how the two twins got where they were now, on track to going to the same school for fairytale children.
Biography: After Diarmuid perished in his fight against the boar - Fionn offered a platonic marriage to Grainne. He knew her reputation would be ruined and maybe in some part his own. Along with the immense guilt he felt for being the reason Diarmuid died. The two married and Grainne gave birth to two beautiful twins; one boy and one girl. The older these two got, the more the son looked like Diarmuid. Fionn viewed this as an opportunity offered by fate herself, he raised the son as though it were his own, showering the young boy in every way and left his sister feeling neglected.
Despite the way that people looked at Aodghan when he walked down the street, whispering and wondering if it was simply Diarmuid in a younger body, he never had that many close friends. He was popular, not only for being the adopted son of the chief, or the biological son of a top tiered fighter, but for his gift at fighting. What had turned into a way of making Aodghan more like his father had proven to show his true prowess. Of course he wasn’t unbeatable, it was just that few had ever tested their luck and even fewer ended up coming out without a broken bone. The reason Aodghan was impressive wasn’t due to his technique - which he could have improved upon - but because of his immense strength.
Aodghan never quite got along with his sister - he tried, he really did. She just never seemed interested in talking to him and, for some reason, whenever he made even the slightest bit of progress he was sweeped away from the conversation. So this is what OUH is to him - his final attempt to connect with his sister. If it doesn’t workout then it must not have been meant to be. If it does… well, then maybe he’ll have finally gotten rid of some guilt himself.
