Personality: Cameron is your classical “sweet kid”. He is kind to everyone he meets, and is quite fond of giving little gifts in the form of baked goods, made himself earlier that day. Cameron, as the son of a baker and a baked good, is an expert when it comes to the kitchen. Anything he concocts is bound to entice even the most stubborn of mouths.
Cameron refuses to stand or observe any kind of bullying, although at times he can over-react slightly. Despite possessing a strong, shy streak; should someone challenge Cameron’s morals, or blatantly defy them in front of him, there will be trouble. Cameron can get quite violent when riled up, although in his minds the b@st@rds deserve it, be it male or female. Quite the feminist, Cameron doesn’t share many other people’s misgivings about hitting girls, but only when they truly deserve it and can match his violence, of course.
On a first-impressions basis, Cameron is shy and reserved, often avoiding all company that he isn’t already familiar with. If approached by a stranger, often a switch is flipped in Cameron’s brain, and he can react with sarcastic remarks in the hopes of escaping the situation as quickly as possible. This sometimes turns people away from him, or it can cause them to like him even more, much to Cameron’s surprise.
When you bring up the death of his father, you can expect quite a negative reaction from Cameron. His father died in front of him, a moment that will haunt him until the end of time. When confronted with these memories, Cameron automatically becomes withdrawn and dejected. He can get quite anxious at this time, even panicky. At this point, Cameron is prone to lash out verbally at anyone brave enough to approach him, as he hates for others to see him at his weakest.
In terms of physical activity, Cameron has gained most of his muscle mass from just two. He is almost constantly in the kitchen, making bread, cake, or some other delicious fancy. Cameron’s favourite is brownies, and could make them all day long if he felt like it. All that running, hauling ingredients around and generally being busy can end up being quite the workout, especially when done for up to 6 hours a day.
Cameron is also quite fond of dancing, ballet in particular. He has faced quite a lot of backlash from others, being a man in what many people think is a traditionally female sport. Cameron loves to prove them wrong. He will spend hours practising, being self taught. Cameron never had enough money to pay for lessons, but online tutorials, and watching the best of the best perform was enough for his quick mind to pick up the essential steps.
When you get really, truly close to Cameron, he is sweet and loyal. He can be quite protective of those he loves, fearing that they may meet an end similar to his father’s. Cameron can be quite energetic and fun loving, as he loves to get up to a little bit of mischief every now and then.
Cameron’s parents were a human and a gingerbread man, granting him the ability to switch between the two. Cameron honestly thinks his ‘gingerbread form’ is ridiculous, and avoids it at all costs. Like… who the hell prefers being a biscuit over an actual human being? The ability was completely useless, in his mind.
Biography: According to the nursery rhyme, the gingerbread man barely survived a day before being eaten by a hungry fox. The reality is quite different. The gingerbread man was never really caught. He moved to New York and started a life there, after asking a local witch to grant him a human disguise, in return for a leg. This allowed the gingerman to arrive, on crutches, into the famous city of New York. He married a beautiful lady a few years later, and she gave birth to their son, Cameron. Hell broke loose soon after. Cameron was born human, but during his days as a newborn he would often change between his gingerbread form and the human, sometimes sticking partially between the two. That’s how his mother found him , one night. The gingerbread man had never told her his true identity, so when she saw Cameron, she freaked out. The gingerbread man tried to explain it to her, but it was too late. Cameron’s mother left them that night, and they never saw her again. Cameron’s father currently ran a very successful bakery, and raised Cameron to be ready to inherit it. Every day, from dawn till dusk, Cameron and his father baked together. From the age of two, Cameron could make glorious loaves of bread. His father couldn’t have been more proud of him.
Cameron also started dancing from the moment he could walk. His father helped him, overjoyed that his son had found something other than food to love. With Cameron able to both expertly cook and dance, the pair couldn’t have been happier.
Cameron’s father didn’t make the same mistake with him as he had with his wife, and explained everything about hs past and Cameron’s identity as soon as Cameron was old enough to understand. The boy took it in his stride, glad that there was a reason to his birthmark - an accident after Cameron switched and was attacked by a bunch of hungry pigeons.
He has complete control over the switching now, although occasionally, when he gets nervous or excited, his control can slip slightly. His gingerbread form is Cameron’s one insecurity, and so he hides it as much as he can.
When Cameron was twelve years old, disaster struck. An armed robbery of the bakery went horribly wrong, And Cameron’s father jumped in front of him to save him from the robber’s bullet. The gingerbread man was killed instantly, and the thief got away with a large amount of the family’s money. Thankfully it was insured, but Cameron never fully recovered from the horros that he had to face that day. No matter how much he threw himself into keeping the bakery alive, or his dance, he could never rid himself of the memories that hung over his head constantly.
When Cameron received the letter to go to some fairytale high school last year, he was doubtful, but agreed to go. The bakery would be managed by some friends back home, so Cameron was free to attempt to make a new start at this school. It was better than he could’ve ever imagined, and in the end he fell in love with a mermaid, Seashell. Now Cameron is set to return for another year, in the hopes that he’ll be able to continue to heal from his past, and see his girlfriend once again. They had kept in touch, but it was nothing like when at the school, and Cameron missed her terribly.
And so, it was with a light heart that he left the bakery in the expert care of his friends and set back off to the school.
