Personality : Grégorie promised himself that he would never be like his stepfather. Dependent on someone, unhappy in love… no, he couldn’t be like that. For this reason, the boy tried to be as autonomous as possible. He didn’t care about the rules, and he often broke them, listening only to his own conscience. He could cause his father a lot of trouble, but he didn’t care. In his eyes, his parent was weak. And although in his heart Grégorie certainly loved him very much, he didn’t show it very often.
Despite his independence, Grégorie never wanted to be the center of attention. The opinion of others did not interest him. He did not try to please anyone, and fame was not attractive to him. He preferred his own company and, therefore, rarely made friends. having his father’s past in his mind, (which his dad usually talks about with extraordinary joy, to the boy’s surprise), he tried not to rely on people. If a relationship with someone becomes too serious, Grégorie withdraws from it as soon as possible. He doesn’t like obligations.
By naturally pushing other people away, he is not very romantic. He hates dating, couples, love-birds… and obviously, he despises those who are flirty. Grégorie believes that such playboys do not respect others, and he tries not to deal with them. Maybe that’s why he prefers to stick with those who, like him, are not successful when it comes to love.
However, this does not change the fact that Grégorie can be kind. He tries not to offend people unless they are behaving unfriendly towards him or, simply, annoy him. He inherited his father’s sarcasm and witty humor. He uses it as a simple and quick way to bypass any unpleasant conversations.
Grégorie values honesty above all else and hates people who lie just to please someone. He rarely gives someone else compliments unless they are ironic.
However, don’t look at Grégorie as a negative person who likes to complain about life and can’t find little things to be happy about. What the boy loves the most is art history and learning about new cultures. That caused him to fall in love with traveling, so he would never say no to the new adventure. Unlike his father, Grégorie tends to take risks and can be considered a brave man. Most of the time, at least.
Grégorie doesn’t like reading imaginary stories. Fairy tales for desperate kids. He prefers to immerse himself in realistic books - ones that describe an authentic story, real events, and at the same time develop his knowledge. Grégorie just wants to do everything that is not associated with his name. He’s not going to be seen as a fool.
Because of that, he seems to be a good student. Not the best one, as he wouldn’t wish to have any sort of attention, but he is smart enough. Some of the more scientific subjects might be a pickle, but the humanistic ones let him shine. He usually learns things, he likes to know about more. Nevertheless, Grégorie isn’t the one to slack of. He prefers to first finish all his assignments and then focus on more pleasant stuff. Unless these “pleasant things” are very, very tempting.
The last important thing to know about Grégoire is that he hates Gaston and his children. The man broke his father’s heart and continues to do so. He doesn’t respect him and his family. Due to the past, Grégoire swore to never, never even talk to his descendants. They must be as heartless as their father. So, there’s no need to waste time on them and make the same mistake his father has made. Past is supposed to teach us.
Biography : Grégorie’s family was shattered from the very beginning. His mother, after “recovering” from Gaston (because loving him is comparable to the disease), began to feel real love for LeFou. At least, Grégorie liked to believe that. When it came to his father… well. LeFou couldn’t cut himself off from Gaston. Often it was the topic of the man that was the source of many quarrels and misunderstandings. Soon these brawls led to… the escape of Grégorie’s mother. She knew her affection would never be mutual. After all, LeFou could only love Gaston. It was a curse, an invisible spell that one could not be released from.
Grégorie loved Claudette more than he could ever love his dad. His mom was everything Gaston wasn’t. Admittedly, in her teenage years, she and her two sisters sighed lovingly at the hunter. But that was a long time ago, and Claudette from the triplets grew up to be the kindest, most adventurous, and organized one. Gaston was the past. Now, she was different.
Grégorie’s mother taught Grégorie to cherish life, the world, and nature. She talked about the importance of taking care of yourself because no one else will take care of you. Those were these principles that Grégorie walks through his life with. His father, on the other hand, showed him that loyalty was the most important thing. “Perseverance builds friendship, and this is the key to happiness,” he often told his son. But Grégorie never intended to listen, and especially to apply these principles in his life. They seemed to him, even in his childhood, naive and far too sweet. After all, in life… you have to count only on yourself. Friends fail. Love fails.
Grégorie remembers the day of his mother’s departure too well. Perhaps it is now grotesque, with a baroque flair and a black veil of sadness covering those memories. Perhaps, this is due to the numerous nightmares and trauma that this event has caused. The morning was ordinary. Maybe even better than usual. Grégorie was making himself breakfast. Toasts with blueberry jam. His favorite. He made coffee for his mother. She always got up later, especially on the weekends. He wanted to give her the mug. He opened the bedroom door (his parents had been sleeping apart for a while - they said it was because of LeFou’s unbearable snoring… it was a lie). Clothes were scattered on the floor, some cabinets half-open. There was a note on the sheets… it must have been a goodbye. Grégorie doesn’t know. He never read it.
The boy never forgot this event. He doesn’t think he could. It was hard for him to understand. First, he blamed the mother… then his father… then Gaston. And then the whole world, everyone he knew and had seen on the street for the first time. He even blamed himself. He became weaker, smaller… more pessimistic.
Since his mother’s disappearance, Grégorie has spent a lot of time studying. He stopped talking to others. He lost those friends he had. He made a few new colleagues, but their relationship was based only on occasional meetings or working and studying together.
Books and traveling helped him to partially recover. Visiting new places allowed him to run away from home and from the constant quarrels with his father. LeFou was weak… he always handed his son a victory in a fight. Grégorie did not want that to be the case. He wanted his father to get his way once, to have good arguments, to defeat him. It never happened.
Now Grégorie feels better. Many years have passed since that experience, and the boy managed to cool down. But the promise remained: Under no circumstances should he be fooled by the descendants of Gaston.
