I mean…I am a psychology student and they basically just teach us stuff like paying taxes makes you happy along with loads of history. So i don’t think psychology would help here,

No but we do have the subjects sociology, psychology, psychopathology and philosophy.
But most of them are more focused on how to use speech techniques and what different disorders are so yeah.

Really we at least learn things like the rose of leary where you can manipulate someone’s tone by doing the opposite.
So if someone is very defensive, you go along saying things like ‘ah yes, it is unfair, isn’t it, yes I understand’ and then they often get pushed back to neutral more.

While that works, ngl, i am so annoyed by the number of times clients begin thinking i am a pushover for talking nicely with them. They basically order me around, saying things like, “surely you won’t dare go against me” and then go back to being the whimpy brat when i refuse

Oh no, we learned how to handle inappropriate behavior on the work floor. We had classes for them had to do vr simulations, etc.
After all, you never know how some people react
