Gory but still watchable movies

We have a thread for disturbing movies here but this thread is for gory movies which are still watchable or at least in your opinion are still watchable.

There is a fine line between just gory and blatantly disturbing. The latter in my opinion being gore which isn’t justified and is just for the sake of horror.

So please tell me your favourite gory movies and I’ll write mine down. Remember just gory and not disturbing! The thread I put on the hyperlink is where you can put those down :joy:.

Here are some I’ve watched:

  • Hellraiser
  • Silent hill
  • Texas chainsaw masacre
  • Evil dead (only 2 and 3 though the first is disturbing)

  • Hostel trilogy
  • I Spit On Your Grave
  • Cabin Fever

Interesting fact about Texas Chainsaw Massacre!

In the UK, when the person responsible for censoring and editing the film actually got round to finding out what to cut, he found he actually wasn’t able to cut anything from the film to make it less disturbing! It’s the overall oppressive atmosphere of the film that makes it so scary! This gave it a country-wide ban for a while

Also Silent Hill has the skinning scene, which is a bit far imo

I can process any gore but that was just woah

Apart from the skinning scene, the rest of the gore in the Silent Hill film is very similar to the games in that it’s integral to the story, or has some level of symbolic or narrative weight to it, which is impressive

Something I reccomend to you all on Netflix is “in the tall grass” it’s based off a short story by Stephen King and Joe Hill.

Unfriended is alright. Pretty gory but it’s more supernatural.

I was pleasantly surprised by the gore in Brightburn! I didn’t expect any gore and it kinda made me like it more!
