I still feel like you would be a magic person in real life. This is why fantasy books constant p*ss me off, because of the inconsistency with magic. Either you create a fluid system or end up doing the cliche ‘protagonist plot shields’ and everything goes to trash.

Or you can settle for creating one instead with mechanical components. In that way, you get control of the design and don’t have to worry about any dark magic backlash or anything of those complications. Assuming it even exist in the first place. Why play with unknown variables when you can control everything for sure?

Except for the fact that the progress of humanity of literally built on technology so yes, it’s quite important going forwards. That’s the beauty of design.
