How to be happier 💖

Hey guys so I’ve been feeling really down lately, and I was wondering if their is anything you guys would recommend to help? Or just in general stuff that makes you happy? :sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart:

A night out with family, if I feel bad at the start of it, I feel good by the end of it. Writing your feelings down somewhere- a journal, or if you like to do art, draw it. Watch funny memes. Listen to inspiring music. Know that someone cares- I care :gift_heart:

Listening to music helps me.

Hiya! This is a good topic for me to put my 2 pence into because I have clinical depression (actually depressive anxiety), so it can be quite difficult for me to feel happy sometimes.

I have a process, though:

  1. I come to terms with the fact that it’s ok for me to feel sad and it’s ok for me to not find a solution straight away. You see, often when I’m sad and I can’t see a way out, the fact that I don’t have a solution makes me even sadder.
  2. I find something to distract myself with. That might be reading a good book. Sometimes it’s reading a sad book, weirdly. It’s cathartic. If I’m sad for no reason, reading a sad book helps me to direct that sadness at something and then get over it quicker.
  3. I help others. Even when I feel bad about myself, helping others will always make me feel better because I’m not wallowing in my own self-pity. I can feel happy about something I’ve done rather than sad for whatever reason.
  4. Put on a funny tv show. After all of that, I just veg out in front of the tv and laugh.

Sometimes…I love to scream. Just scream your heart out. Scream about everything. Then cry. Savour each little tear. Weirdly after that…I like to drink tea. :gift_heart:

If it’s a certain person who’s upsetting you…a good strategy is to take out a piece of paper and a pen, then write down everything you dislike or everything they made you do that made you upset. Then I like to burn it…but it’s your choice.:blue_heart:

If it’s something else, surround yourself with things you love. :gift_heart:

Spend some time away from social media and electronics, spend some time reading, going outside, hanging with family, playing a new instrument, listen to music, work out, hang with friends, play a sport, etc.

If you listen to music, I recommend listening to Twenty One Pilots because they’ve helped a lot of people in the past, because they show that you’re not alone in what you’re facing.
I also think you should listen to Billie Eilish. Her lyrics are pretty upbeat, but have a lot of meaning behind them. Both artists do. They’re worth a shot.

Books wise, try to find a really good series/book that just hooks you.
I recommend the book series Keeper of the Lost Cities, Renegades, The Crown’s Game, Hunger Games, and Warcross
Books that aren’t in a series are One Of Us Is Lying ( technically it’s a series, but the next book comes out next year, so ), Two Can Keep A Secret ( possibly a series? Made by same author as previous book ), When, Broken Things, Six of Crows, Da Vinci Code—

Okay, I think all of those books are murder mysteries. But honestly just go to a book store and go to the section of your choice ( I usually go to teen fiction ) and just look st the book titles and see what floats your boat. Read the desc ( obviously ), read a random page of that book to see if you like the writing style ( sometimes it can ruin the whole book ), and voila.

I hope you start to get happier soon. If you ever need to talk to someone, I’m here for you. ( I’ll help you bury the body  )
