Let's Talk About Blackfishing

Yep, yep agreed. I don’t get why other people make those comments about skin colour or even complexion especially since a lot of the time it isn’t something that can be controlled <.< Like putting on sunscreen is a good thing and idk why your aunt had to compare you negatively to that random chick. I don’t get why we can’t just all love the skin colours we have already, not painting skin colours as more attractive than others >.<

LMAO I didn’t know that was still a thing, I saw that a lot more a few years ago but I didn’t know people still thought of that as stylish :face_with_hand_over_mouth: I mean like go off I guess but uh I don’t really vibe with the whole orange look but you do you lmao

Or use skin lightening lotions. Honestly though, colourism is so huge in south asia, especially in the Bollywood industry. Being darker-skinned is considered ugly while being lighter-skinned is more attractive.

Lmao have you see that tiktok of that girl pronouncing chile as chilay, like how the country is pronounced?

Exactamundo!!! I was offended when my aunt compared me to someone lighter than me (I was 8 years old at the time). I’m like goldy tone and boy, it makes me angry when some of my relatives are absolute hypocrites when it comes to skin tones. They think that this is a “tramp” skin tone yet they claim that “every skin colour is a good skin colour”, can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Honestly, it’s so common in the South Asian community. They have these products like “Fair & Lovely” and I’m like “Whaaat!” I’m also sure it often happens in the black community for sure.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that these girls that look like Wotsits (UK for Cheetos) try hard to be like darker whereas the Asians wear lighter foundation to be “whiter”. I’m done!!!

I know right! That was very rude of her to compare me to another child’s skin tone. If I had a child and I did the same, he/she would hate me forever. It’s common sense to not talk about or compare someone to another person. Sheesh!

Thank you, dear

It’s absolutely crazy! Why can’t we all just get a long?
