“No it’s fine seriously!”
I noticed her snort as she chuckled, which I found sort of cute. I then nodded in response to what she said, but I still doubted myself heavily.
“That’s… not what I meant… But! that’s one way to go about it.”
My eyebrows furrowed. “Oh, I’m sorry, again…” I sighed, then bit my lower lip, feeling like I was failing at everything. I’m a failure, what am I even doing here?
I looked over to her as she grabbed a menu and then told me about her favorite item and what she was going to order. “Maybe I’ll have their french toast then.” I thought out loud. “Yeah…french toast sounds good! I’ll have that.” I told her with a smile. I was full from all the food that I had eaten, but I just wanted to eat more. It had been so long since I had eaten this much, I had been eating very little over the past years. “But are you sure you only want a black coffee? I want to make sure that you’re taking care of yourself and not skipping meals. A coffee isn’t a meal, but maybe you have a reason. Did you already eat?”
The waiter soon came over and asked us what we wanted to order. After we ordered, they left and took our menus with them. I looked back to Hailey with a small smile. “I’m excited to try the french toast.” I then awkwardly sat there for a moment, not knowing what to say. “Do you happen to know the year?” I asked, rubbing the back of my neck.
