Backstory: Years before Stark Academy was opened, Tony Stark was working on a way to monitor the students of the academy without them feeling entrapped or limited, as to not mess with his ‘testing’. Though the A.I. were able to function as rule-enforcers, they weren’t reactive or not and couldn’t think critically like humans, while humans were too vulnerable and more likely to make mistakes. Instead, he created a combination of both. With the help of Bruce Banner and the original Vision, Tony created C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. (Computerized Rule-enforcing Young-adult Systematically and Technologically Advanced Lifeform), an advanced android designed to masquerade as a student and keep the students of the Academy from destroying the school- or each other. He kept Crystal a secret from everyone except Bruce and Vision, even Diamond and the other Avengers, afraid of being chastised for creating what could possibly become a ‘second Ultron’. Tony used fragments from each of the six Infinity Stones after The Snap to create the gem in her forehead and bring her to life.
Personality: Crystal is apathic, and therefore finds humans very strange, as she isn’t able to understand their emotions. She uses equations and computations to make decisions instead of her ‘gut instinct’, as she finds it brash and immature to make decisions not based on anything. Despite this, she’s polite and proper, keeping situations from escalating into major conflicts by all means necessary. She can be very quiet at times, though she’s not shy- on the contrary, she’s computating everything around her, observing so that she can act more ‘human’ in the future. Sometimes, Crystal’s personal and moral beliefs conflict with what she has to do, but she must follow her programming, even if that means turning her back on what she believes in in the process. She has a particular affinity for the children of the Avengers, especially Diamond, and is programmed as their defender first and foremost.
