Random Opinions & Pet Peeves: Music Edition

Not to say I didn’t dance ever! Cause I did, my Mum has video evidence. But never for anything like this.

I’ve been to bar bat mitzvahs and the music is so loud people are talking outside of the party room

Man I hate it when people do that, it’s so freaking annoying!

I don’t always want to listen to songs with deep and meaningful messages. Tbh as long as I enjoy the way it sounds I’ll be satisfied but I really don’t wanna be the kind of person who sits there like “hm I wonder what the message is” because there doesn’t always have to be one :person_shrugging: I listen to alot of songs where the lyrics mean something to me but people call it “generic” who cares? If people enjoy it why does it have to be some kind of clever wordplay? I also listen to songs which people class as “deep” but I’m not always in the mood for that :joy:

Sorry but it just frustrates me when people expect me to listen to things which are so deep and meaningful all the time. As long as the song isn’t boring and I enjoy myself I don’t care.

This is to do with both relationships and friendships.

I don’t think they should be based on music taste. If you guys get a long just fine, that matters the most.

I’ve mentioned before about all the bvb bad fanbase stuff, but now things are starting to change! The good people in the fanbase have started fighting back and saying all the things I’ve been saying on here. Obviously people still say bad things but they are starting to get drowned out now!

Also I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and nobody has to like bvb but the reason why you don’t like them shouldn’t be based on a lie you have nothing to back it up with.

I’ve been listening to Asking Alexandria’s new stuff and I enjoy it! It kinda reminds me of BMTH a little bit (I mean that in a good way) obviously it’s not anywhere near as heavy as they were in the early days but it’s still rock and the lyrics are relatable. Their early stuff still exists so if people want to listen to that instead that’s fine but that doesn’t mean the new stuff is bad. It’s actually really good.

Problem is, people complain about anything anybody does all the time anyway so I’m kinda glad they are doing what they want instead of what everyone else wants.

If you are all laughing around and singing with your friends to a song you all like then don’t start acting like Simon Cowell or something to your friends if they don’t sound too good. Your friends are trying to have fun and mess around, it’s not the time to be critical just leave them alone.

The only time I don’t mind it is when you get that one person who just decides to screech along to a song off key randomly. In which case feel free to ask them to stop.

But personally if your friend is just trying to have fun you should let them have their fun. They aren’t trying to set up a career for themselves as a singer and they aren’t trying to entertain you they are just trying to have fun.

Also, if you are the kind of person who feels the need to critically analyse another persons singing especially in a kareoke situation, unless they ask for your feedback it’s not your place to say anything. Just clap. It takes alot of confidence just to get up there and serenade a bunch of strangers, be a good friend and clap. They are just trying to have a fun night.

Sorry but it just bothers me because as a singer myself I hang around and see alot of other singers constantly acting better than everyone else.

Nobody is asking you to download their latest single.

(Btw you can think what you want about their singing but either keep it to yourself or just say it to close friends)

Yes!

I find it irritating when people go all Simon Cowell on people’s singing. This is why I don’t sing in public (I was bullied into singing in public back in secondary and college). Honestly, I didn’t feel comfortable when that happened. Some of the kids try emotionally blackmailing me as well!

Btw you may have noticed I deleted certain messages or edited them and that’s either because I no longer agree with what I said, I have since been more informed and noticed how uneducated I look or because I wrote it out of anger and am no longer angry :joy:

I also want to just try and keep my music opinions more positive because I see enough negativity online about the things I love and ranting about that negativity on here makes me feel more negative and shows the trolls are winning which I didn’t realise until reading back over the things I wrote :joy:

I love the things I love so from now on I will only show them love instead of letting trolls affect me to the point I’m coming on here angry.

Example of the kind of opinion I will be saying

  • I love the feeling I get when I put on band merch

Not sure if I have mentioned this before but I’ll say it again just in case.

This whole gatekeeping thing needs to stop. You’re not better than anyone just because you like A Day To Remember since they first started. You’re probably lying about that!

November by sleeping with sirens makes me feel all happy and calm but it’s a pretty sad song

I know I said I wasn’t gonna post any more negative ones but this is annoying me. I hate when people are “reviewing” music and they say she’s copied this person or oh look it’s a female Marilyn Manson like shyoosh :joy: musicians borrow things from each other all the time but just because someone looks a certain way or sings in a similar style that doesn’t mean that they’re copying someone. They may have been inspired by them but if these reviewers would actually listen to it they’d see that there are obvious differences. Somebody I like listening to was compared to Courtney Love like the reviewer was like “she’s trying to be Courtney Love” like bro just because she has blonde hair and is a little edgy looking that doesn’t mean she’s trying to be Courtney Love, like I get it if the reviewer is some Courtney Love fan who wishes it was still the 90’s but times change that doesn’t mean everyone is trying to be Courtney Love, tbh I get more of a Blondie vibe from this person not a Courtney Love vibe :joy: but either way there was no copying involved.

To be honest I’d say a combination of Debbie Harry, Janis Joplin, Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks. Is more realistic. Maybe a bit of Courtney for the grungey sound but definitely not the most prominent characteristic and even then I’d say more Kurt Cobain.

Or I have a better idea let’s just say that she is who she is instead of comparing her to every other musician in existance.

Oooo I just did more reading into this and apparently there’s a “feud” gotta love random out of context drama to sell magazines

Lol it was Taylor Momsen btw so if you wanna google it yourself then go for it! It’s worth a laugh :joy:

“Sorry that we both have blonde hair and play rock music”

Back again so I have a little rant and news for you.

Remember a band called Atilla? Well things about that band have been exposed. What happened? Well they have committed a heinous crime i.e. sleeping with underage girls and demanding sexual pics from them. What’s worse is that there are people defending this behaviour…it’s absolutely sickening!

The girl who was victimised by the drummer of the band reached out with all the evidence. I knew there was something wrong with this disgusting band!!

There are soooo many things about bands and band members that have been coming out recently

I know right! That’s freaking scary. I never really cared for that but man this is insane! I remember in the comment section on someone’s post on Facebook, there were so many sickos defending Atilla. Predators don’t deserve my support or sympathy, they should be punished severely!!
