Re-aliving this discussion, I am.
It’s legal here, but there are guidelines you have to meet to even be applicable for it. My priest was trying to rally to get it banned, saying that catholic doctors and med students will be forced to do it or get fired, even though it is outside of their beliefs (and that would be a violation of the Charter, I think) but according to the government of Canada, that’s not true. Quoted from la webpage:
“Not all health care providers will be comfortable with medical assistance in dying. The federal practice may not be consistent with a provider’s beliefs and values. The federal legislation does not force any person to provide or help to provide medical assistance in dying.”
I would imagine this would apply to med students as well, but I would actually have to further research that lmao
Anyway, so, should euthanasia be legal? Why or why not? Do you think there should be specific parameters you have to meet to even be applicable for euthanasia or do you think it should be up to the person to decide entirely? Also, should medical assistance in dying (euthanasia) be permitted for suicidal patients?

In the Uk, it’s illegal. And it really depends on the circumstances. If a person is really suffering and requests to have their life ended, then we should respect that. I myself wouldn’t want to live a life where everyone does everything for me. Not only is it a waste of money, but I’m pretty sure I’m not enjoying life when I’m a vegetable. And I would wanna dump my care expenses on my family. It’s not fair on them. So death would be an alternative.
As for the suffering. You could sedate them, then administer the stuff. I dunno
To answer your question, no. If a person is suffering then they have right to request to die.
No, I don’t think so
Nope
I don’t really see any reason to ban it, if somebody doesn’t want to be alive anymore because they have a condition which causes them alot of pain or basically just makes it so they can’t live their life anymore then they should have the right to choose whether or not they continue living. If a person is dying anyway then they should have the right to choose how they die.
I guess some religious reasons would make people be against it “sanctity of life” and all that.
It shouldn’t be banned because people should be allowed a choice, if a person doesn’t want to live a life of suffering or carry on living a life with an incurable disease then that choice should be with them. It’s not an easy choice for anyone involved, especially not if you’re close to the person but the person in question should always have the final say.
Nope
