I went to a co-ed school and made friends with people of different genders. My sister wanted to go to an all-girls school, she didn’t mind it there. I think it depends on what you prefer, but parents shouldn’t force their children to go to single-sex or co-ed. :white_heart:

I know both my parents went to single-sex schools and they really didn’t like it so I was happy to go to a co-ed one. I think it’s just in general really good for the student to learn about reality. Because in reality, you can’t just say you don’t want to see any boys anymore. Life doesn’t work like that so why should schools offer that :joy:

Apparently, girls of a certain age group tend to do better academically in single-sex schools.

However, personally, I hated my time in a single-sex school and I think it did some harm to us all from a social perspective. I feel like the people who were in that school from 3 to 16 and hadn’t had any outside contact with boys just didn’t know how to speak to them!

I go to a public school, so it’s co-ed.

I prefer co-ed because I think it encourages interactions between the different genders. I did contemplate going to an all-girls private school at one point because I had a really awful time at my elementary school. However, I think that would have made my gender-identity crisis worse.

I went to a co-ed school so I think it is probably the better option just from experience, it got me used to being around a large variety of people :joy: that doesn’t mean I don’t imagine what life is like in single-sex schools.

I prefer co-ed but I don’t talk much to the guys :skull: I probably just disliked the idea of going to a single-sex school

Definitely co-ed. I’ve never studied into a single-sex school before since the only single-sex school in our city is for all-males. Plus I also can’t imagine myself going in one because I enjoy the variety in my environment.

Weirdly, there are single-sex state schools (that’s what we call them) in the UK!

Personally, as someone who went to a girl’s school with a trans man, I have to say that single-sex schools are just very against what trans rights are all about. Sure, most people didn’t dead name him, neither the staff nor the students, but a skirt was a mandatory part of the school uniform. Plus, the uniform was very very pink. I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable that made him feel.

Although as a straight man, I think it must have been pretty fun for him to be surrounded by girls xD

That’s actually really interesting! (Here, if you want to go to a single-sex school, you have to go to private school)

There are a few Catholic schools here that are single-sex but not private :stuck_out_tongue: I’m not sure if there are any non-Catholic schools like that, though!

I now have no social skills with the male gender so
yes co-ed is superior

I’ve only ever been in co-ed schools so I have no experience in an all-girls school. I’d say I’d probably prefer the former over the latter. I think in a single-sex environment would be so competitive and toxic, but then again a co-ed environment could have the same thing. I wouldn’t say one is superior compared to the other since I haven’t experienced both and it all comes down to personal preference
