@Gamers come and talk about indirect storytelling!

I personally love when stories are told through exploration and talking to NPC’s it’s a shame I can’t play more games like that :joy:

I don’t get it, sorry. I think I’m just too tired for this.

Yes! Doom Eternal, the game is amazing, one of the best games out there i’d say. It’s directly in line with Dark Souls, and the thing is they share very similar traits. The gameplay is different tho. If you’ve ever played doom you’ll know what I mean. You (the doom slayer), are there to eliminate every demon and free earth from it’s curse. You battle on different planets and face hordes of enemies. During the game, you can find books that explain the lore/story, and although that gives you a fair amount of information, it’s not enough. There are clues all around the game, and certain behaviours can be observed to gather more information. The scenery gives alot of clues too (nests with demons, earth in ruins, buildings collapsed, few humans left, etc).
Now the part where doom and dark souls meet is in the mini and normal boss fights, they’re incredibly hard as it requires you to be agile with whatever controller you’re playing. The game doesn’t care if you’re bad, the boss won’t go easier on you if it sees you miss. Boss fights can take a really long time depending on how efficient you are. And if you die, well back to 0. Some boss fights in Dark Souls can take up to a few hours.
