“I’ve been fine man just.. I got with this girl but we sort of broke up some weeks ago.”
He took another puff of his cigarette.
“But I’ve just been hearin’ rumors about you. Somethin’ about you havin’ a baby? And then you hooked up with a guy from West Nottingham? TJ I think his nane was. I didn’t know you were into guys…”
He looked at Leo with his eyebrow quirked. Luke knew he was as straight as a fishing pole so he couldn’t relate, then suddenly his mind went to a guy he’s been seeing around school that he didn’t know the name of (Enzo) but he quickly put it out of his mind.

All of a sudden he noticed someone walking to them.

From West Nottingham

TJ walked up to Leo standing against the wall. He didn’t care that he was on St Andrews property. Yes he took the bus all the way there because he knew Leo wanted to meet him and he couldn’t wait any longer.

“Bro I’m in love with you.” He said to Leo when he finally stood in front of him. He was huffing and puffing due to walking fast with adrenaline but his eyes were full of emotion. He was fully imagining a fairytale kiss but there was a guy beside him. “What the fck you looking at?”

“Who are you? What are youuu doin’ here bud?”

“Leo tell this punk who I am! Before I kick his ass for staring at me like that.” TJ didn’t care if anyone knew that he liked, or was in love, with Leo anymore. He just hoped Leo didn’t let him down. Luke got off the wall and walked closer to the guy. He knew that he would defend his friend no matter what.

“Yes. It’s thin enough.” She hoped the rise and fall of her shoulders wasn’t too noticeable. “Thank you, you did a great job. You can beat my meat again anytime.” As much as it pained her—Sadie burst out laughing, regardless of not washing her hands, she covered them over her mouth to try and keep the laughter it in. Even though she turned to face him, she couldn’t look up into his eyes. Gosh, why am I having the humor of a middle school boy? Although her outburst turned into more of a giggle, she had to escape to collect herself. She reached up to place a hand on his arm, but froze right before contact realizing she would contaminate him too. Instead, gently she used her forearm to nudge him a little so she could slip by into the bathroom to wash her hands and now face. Definitely blushing, in the meanwhile.

The bathroom door stayed wide open as she scrounged around for the hand soap she swore she just put in there. Ahh, he’ll think I’m a weirdo looser after that. She blushed, pausing to look at her rosy cheeks in the mirror. She had to squeeze her eyes shut and shake her head as if getting rid of the the immature moment she had—but even as she did, a genuine chuckle did bubble out of her. Sadie sighed, pumping some soap into her hand and scrubbing. Then retrieving some of her go to face wash and decided to just wash her whole face because that would be weird if she just washed the lower half.

Then it hit her, Lav had never seen her without make up. And she wasn’t the type to do a whole elaborate face, but she definitely noticed the wrinkles that had been appearing over the recent years. How even a little blush and lipstick went a long way. But it wasn’t worth it for her to put on more makeup just for it a few hours…. Was it? She accidentally let out a verbal groan. Also, it’s not like she was trying to impress him…. Yeah, totally not. She rolled her eyes then padded her face dry. Finishing with putting lotion on.

Just as they started laughing and he thought he’d made her feel more comfortable and free to laugh. Just as he thought he made her realize she can laugh at stupid jokes around him and that he won’t judge her but join her, she excused herself to the bathroom. He’d think she just needed to go in there, but she moved in a rushed way, as if she tried to get away from him as soon as possible. He wondered if he offended her.
He started placing cheese and ham onto the thinned chicken and rolling it up and tying it up. It was ready to be breaded and put into hot oil. He started heating up the oil until it could be hot enough in the meanwhile he started covering the meat into a ixture of egg and flour before he puts them all in the oil.
She came back and there was a bit of difference to her face. It was more red in the cheek area and hoping it was makeup and not her being embarrased by his comment, which might’ve been more offensive than funny, so he said. “Did you put on blush? It’s … it really suits you.” He wanted to say it’s cute but felt if she was offended by that joke she definitely wouldn’t appreciate being called cute by him.
He turned to her and offered her the knive smiling as he handed it to her. “You said you could dice and chop like nobody’s business … Well let’s put that to the test. Can you chop these veggies so they could be steamed?” He said as if he was giving a challange to her, when in reality it was jjust chopping some vegetables.

Evelyn had started a bucket list. To branch out and grow. She hated to bring up last year again and again and again, but it had been a big part of her life coming out and losing her closest friend (Liv) then getting her back again. Their schedules have been so busy they never did get back to the point they had been, but she definitely considered her a friend still. Even missed her some nights.

Part of Eves bucket list was joining a new club at school. Most clubs were on hold as everything else for winter break, but this random book club she joined had managed to have a few things going on. Albeit with a very few members still on campus. Eve knew from the four other meetings she’s attended it was more of just a fun little social gathering that had a had a book of the month, but only half the members really read it. She ducked into the cozy bookstore half coffee shop, shivering a little. Then her eyes landed on one person she’d seen once or twice around the club, but not really have spoken to. Her phone buzzed in her pocket.

Livie :revolving_hearts:
Hey Eve, I just wanted to see how you were doing. I’m on the plane about to leave for New Zealand. I wish you were coming to the wedding with me and Rylee. Hope you are doing good. I mean if you want to come… I can get you a ticket on the later plane. Hope you’re doing well.

Evelyn
OMG Livie!! That’s so sweet of you!! :sparkles::sparkles:
I wish I could go with youuu, but I don’t think I can swing it :sob:
But wow, New Zealand?! That’s like, so amazing!!
I’m good, just kinda bored with school and stuff.
But I hope you have the best time ever at the wedding! You and Rylee are gonna have so much fun!!
Keep me updated and take lots of pics!! :sparkling_heart: Love youuu!!

She pounded out, already sliding her phone back in her pocket. She stood almost completely behind the person, seemingly looking at a display. “Excuse me? Gr… Greta?” She really was bad at names, and hoped this was the right one.

Enzo couldn’t help it, before she even nodded her head yes, he was moving in to wrap his arms tightly around her. Her smile brought it all full circle. In unison, as Jayda melted into his warm embrace, he did the same. Resting his cheek on the crown of her head. He closed his eyes, just simply existing in love for a moment. Finally, a chance at unrestricted peace and breathing.

He felt her rustle and looked down at her. Jades head tilted it up, lips slanted just right towards him—sharing her last breath he closed the little gap. It was soft, and gentle, and made him forget all the problems that plagued him the last two months.

“I… I missed you… Vincenzo.” The way Jayda trembled slightly broke Vincenzo’s heart. He almost started crying… the emotional bag he’d been carrying around on his back was heavy. Full. Too full. He looked up at the ceiling, as if it would keep the tears in his eyes. It did sorta work. He smiled down at her, “I’m sorry, Jayda. I’m so sorry for leaving in a rush, especially like that.” Awkwardly, some rando tried to sneak by them and the emotional energy ball that was Enzo. “May I explain? Maybe in your dorm?” He asked, not wanting to make her uncomfortable. And definitely hoping Kendrie had gone home for break by now.

Greer had decided to go to the school’s coffee shop after class. Stepping in, she smell of coffee, books and pastries smacked them full on in the face. Basking in the smells, Greer stood quietly, before walking over to the display case of pastries. This was going to be a hard decision. They’d just decided on what they wanted when a voice spoke behind them. Startled, Greer turned. ”Me? It’s Greer. Honestly, Greta is a new one. Usually people call me Grace. I’m pretty used to correcting people about it, so don’t worry. Anyway, what’s up?” Greer asked, giving them a reassuring smile. Maybe they should just tell people their name was Grace from now on. It would save a lot of trouble. Though, it was true that they were super used to explaining. Also about their pronouns. That caused even more problems, though. Most people were the type to only believe in male and female.

My bad.” Evelyn glanced behind Greer to the display of pastries. “Oooh, those look amazing—ugh, sorry, off topic. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi. I recognized you from campus, I think you’re a grade ahead of me?” She thought out loud, shifting her weight to one foot. “I’m trying to branch out of my little bubble. Duh, I forgot to mention. I’m Evelyn, feel free to call me Eve though.” She rolled her eyes, as she remembered to actually introduce herself. “So… can I buy you a treat or something? We could totally just chat if you’re down for that too.”

After finally calming down, and listening to the kitchen sounds, Sadie finally made her way back into the kitchen.

“Did you put on blush? It’s … it really suits you.” Anddddddddd Sadie almost did a U-turn back around. She nodded, hoping her cheeks weren’t getting any redder. Im a grown woman! Sadie get control of yourself! she internally scolded herself, realizing she should probably acknowledge the compliment instead of staring into his wonderful blue eyes. “I have to owe this one to Mother Nature,” she smiled, slipping past him back to her spot. “But thank you,” Sadie nodded.

She wasn’t sure if it was appropriate to comment on her rather abrupt departure in her quest to 1) wash the meat juice off her face 2) wash her hands and 3) holding in her 12-year-old boy humor. Maybe not that last part…?

But… he seemed undeterred. She felt herself relax, be at ease with his energy. Felt normal, even as he handed her the knife with a smile. She appreciated it. “Can you chop these veggies so they could be steamed?” Sadie nodded, pretending to have a very serious face. Like this was a high profile, pressing matter she was assigned. She threw a grin at him over her shoulder as she turned to her cutting board. “This must be a parallel universe. If I remember correctly, at our first formal meeting you came at me with a knife?” she raised a brow, leaving out key points like before it has been a play knife, looking back at his reaction. “It’s also when you taught me to K.I.S.S.”

As she finished the rest of the vegetables she turned back to Coltrane for the next steps. “So… can I ask whats on the menu, chef?”

“I have to owe this one to Mother Nature” she said. “DAMMIT!” Coltrane thought “I did make it uncomfortable for her. Let’s just carry on as if nothing happened and I didn’t make it weird. She sure looks as if I didn’t do anything. She’s so nice, hiding her embarrasement like that when she doesn’t have to. I don’t know if it’s aggrevating that she thinks she needs to do that instead of telling me off, or if it’s a green flag. Maybe that’s the definition of a beige flag, I don’t know, it’s not like I didn’t grow up with red flags in my face so I can’t really judge these propperly.”

He handed her the knife to try to get everything to normal and her blush seemed to be lighter, more natural, and she smiled while saying. "Can you chop these veggies so they could be steamed?"with that serious tone like she did earlier with the salute. She then grinned even wider and said. “This must be a parallel universe. If I remeber correctly, at our first formal meeting you came at me with a knife?” He raised an eyebrow. "When I told you to imagine the tiny handheld weight to be a knife, I hope you realize I meant only for the session."He jokingly said and chuckled at the end. “It’s also when you taught me to K.I.S.S.” Now he was blushing. “I hope you don’t get much practice K.I.S.S.-ing in real life.” Which basically means I hope you will never find yourself in a position where you have to use a defence method I showed you.

“So … can I ask what’s on the menu, chef?” The breaded chicken rolls were already frying in the pan of oil and she knew she was dicing veggies to be steamed, so Coltrane was confused on how she didn’t know what she was eating. “Maybe she means to ask what the name of the meal is, I mean she already knows exactly what it is.” He thought.
“This is a bit of a comfort food for me. My mom used to make it for me when I was nervous before a big event or if I failed something. It was the only food I could eat when nervous because nausea would make anything else feel like I’m eating rocks. The hot melted cheese, the chicken and the ham, along with some sauce could make me forgot for a moment about anything, especially the dissapointment I felt in myself when I failed or the nerves and the overthinking getting to me before an exam or something.. But yeah, this is called Cordon Bleu. Apparently it was the staple of a very famous culinary school, or it was made there, so it was named after the school itself.” He turned to her. “Let’s steam those veggies.”

Greer shook their head. ”Nope, sorry. Not Greta. I honestly don’t know where my parents came up with my name, but whatever. It’s more gender neutral than Greta, at least. Don’t worry about it. Seriously.” Greer nodded. ”You’re a tenth grader? Their eyes lit up at the idea of free food. ”Sure to both. Don’t feel forced to buy me something, though.” Greer smiled, pointing at an apple fritter. ”Could you get me an apple fritter? I’m going to get a frappe too, but I’ll pay for that. No problem.”

Magnolia got out of her old beat up truck and slammed the door behind her. Then she walked down the small slope where she saw Jax sitting on the bus stop bench. She finally found him after some time of driving through the neighborhood.

“Jax, you’ve been avoiding me ever since I came back to this neighborhood, and I know you saw me several times. Especially when I went to that Pancake Diner. Remember Pancake King? That place we arm wrestled at while everybody watched. Or when we used to sit on my truck and watch the stars and eat hamburgers. Yeah, those things.”

Magnolia stared down at him as the memories flooded her mind, but now they didn’t matter. She had other things on her mind too.
“I heard what you did to my friend Madi and I’m going to kick your arse.”

Magnolia pushed his leg with her brown boot. She knew that she was stronger than Jax because she would always beat him at arm wrestling or even play wrestling. She knew that Jax would never get away with what he did to Madi if he did it to her. “Come on get up. Or do you still fight like a girl.”

“I hope you don’t get much practice K.I.S.S.-ing in real life.” Although she was gently shaking her head, her lips quirked up in a quiet private smile. They were fond memories, and although parts had been uncomfortable at the time, she did relish them and appreciate every second of her training. “No. Fortunately I haven’t been.”

Sadie watched him as he watched the frying chicken. “This is a bit of a comfort food for me.” She leaned back against the counter, intently listening to him. The oil in the pan sizzled, dancing and reaching for Lav. “…My mom used to make it for me when I was nervous before a big event or if I failed something. It was the only food I could eat when nervous because nausea would make anything else feel like I’m eating rocks….” Sadie wanted to give little Lav Coltrane a hug, maybe tell him mistakes didn’t define your whole life. There was nothing worst than an anxious heartbroken kid. “But yeah, this is called Cordon Bleu. Apparently it was the staple of a very famous culinary school, or it was made there, so it was named after the school itself.” But just like that he had his random fact to distract from his feelings. So much for not liking history. Now, it was his time to catch her staring.

“Let’s steam those veggies.” Still a little lost in thought, Sadie only nodded. She grabbed the whole cutting board, coming over to the stove. After putting them on the stove she turned to him, feeling guilty. “You aren’t making this because I’m making you nervous, are you?” She asked, looking up at him. Gosh, the way she’s been stepping over boundaries asking for classes, asking him to come help her unpack her house, and then also cornering him into having dinner at her place? Yeah… way to go Sadie.

“Don’t worry about it. Seriously.” Greer nodded. “You’re a tenth grader?” They asked. Eve shook her head yes as she answered, “yup. Finally. Freshman year honestly drug along for me. Supposedly they say sophomore year is the best because colleges don’t start scouting you out until junior year,” she joked with a grin. “I don’t know, are they beating down your back or is that just a rumor the teachers made up so we’d lock in?”

After Greer decided on an apple fritter, they went up to the counter together. Evelyn proudly ordered two apple fritters, one for herself and the other for Greer, as well as an iced vanilla nirvana. As they got their orders, they found a nice little table, looking out into the snowy outdoors. “So. Tell me about yourself Greer,” Evelyn asked, sipping her drink.
