Just wanna make it clear that we experience sleep paralysis every night. Our body experiences this state so we won’t hurt ourselves while sleeping. Some people have a condition where they don’t experience sleep paralysis at night and wake up with moles in their skin.

I was actually referring to the sleep paralysis state where you’re in a conscious but unable to move your body. It usually happens between the stages of wakefulness and sleep. Some people report that they experience terrifying hallucinations, some also feel a sense of choking.

It’s true that our body undergoes paralysis once we fall asleep. But sometimes we remain aware while our body does this, that’s why sometimes we experience this because the body is already at rest but your are still in a conscious state. I hope this clears things up.

Oh, I get what you’re saying, but that’s not called sleep paralysis! That’s a lucid dream, and you do experience it while you also experience sleep paralysis.

They call it sleep paralysis according to my source; a state of feeling conscious but unable to move your body. When people are about to enter a lucid dream, they sometimes experience this phenomenon. Luckily for me, I don’t have to go through this state when I lucid dream.

Making you conscious while dreaming means experiencing a lucid dream actually. I don’t know why they call it that in the source you used to write the polls, and I don’t know who wrote the article, but I am sure of what I am telling you because I’ve read articles written by professionals and I had it explained to me iin real life by someone who had followed a course on this subject!

Basically, you experience sleep paralysis every night. When you dream you are not conscious. And you still experience sleep paralysis. However there is the rare case of lucid dreaming. Since you are still experiencing sleep paralysis, you are paralyzed. But that has nothing to do with lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is a state of a dream/or a dream which lets you still be conscious while dreaming.

Okay. Just to clear things up again, the thing I was referring at in my polls is the in-between wakefulness and sleep state where you are conscious but unable to move your body. I was just saying that sometimes people go through this state before they enter a lucid dream. It was a scary experience for some people, including me.

I understand what you are trying to say, that we undergo sleep paralysis every time we sleep. And that the term I used for my poll is different from the definition you just explained to me. Perhaps I am misinformed regarding this, because the sources I’ve read referred to this state as ā€œsleep paralysisā€.

Thank you for clearing that up.

Whatever the word is for that, the meaning is the same, so it doesn’t matter! I was giving the scientific word/definition for what you were saying but since people do say it sleep paralysis, even though it might not be the most accurate way to state it, it is still correct! We are getting out of topic now, so if you wanna discuss more about this subject feel free to PM me!
