I do have a rant. Why the hell do people feel the need to be hateful anonymously? If you wanted a story with full CC, go read a damn story with full CC. Do not read like 3 episodes and ask me āwhatās wrong with lighter skinned people that the MC has to be dark?ā Get tf outta here with that- ugh. I am open to criticism and accept it (Iām constantly perfecting my story because of that) but racism is a no. Absolutely not, we are not doing that. Angelina is a black MC, sheās dark-skinned and she is gorgeous (despite being evil.) And itās gonna remain that way. If anyone has an issue? The door is at the top left. Click it. Leave. Donāt come back. Iām not having any of that hatred. Thank you.
I seriously hate how entitled some Episode readers are, with the whole āI wonāt read without full CCā or āIf I canāt change the MCās name, Iām exiting the story.ā F that whole āI wanna play as meā crap. Even if you use your name and CC the character, they still wonāt be like you! Theyāll still have different interests, different preferences for things, different relationships with their parents⦠like why do these readers think they HAVE to be in everyoneās story?
I forgot three scenes that randomly popped up in my mind when I had nothing to write them down
I wanna start writing but also Iām terrible at forming sentences
Being in a funk sucks
But getting out of it during a time of complete and utter confusion for two classes that you donāt understand and are taking a LOT of time AND energy? Ouch
Writerās block is my worst enemy!
Sooo⦠Brooke, have you developed any of these ideas any more?
Not much unfortunately. Iāve mainly added more ideas to my listā¦
Though Iāve definitely developed a little bit of world building/character notes for some of them, that I definitely get excited about whenever I look back over what Iāve noted down. I really want to work more on all of them though.
Some of my other ideas if anybody is curious
-
I have two different vampire stories in mind, that could probably fit in the same world. One, focused on a girl who comes from a long line of vampire hunters that ends up on the run after she was forcibly turned into a vampire herself.
-
Then a second vampire one would be focused on a group (all in their 20s), where 3 of them are vampire hunters, but the younger brother of the leader of their group (who they kept vampires a secret from) willingly has himself turned into a vampire and is hiding it from them.
-
Then thereās one idea (which I previously thought about turning into an SG or RP) centered around a writer whose favorite character that she created in her book, is somehow brought to life.
-
A story where two girls, best friends, are brought to their countryās palace and selected to work there, and they develop relationships with the prince and a servant guy, only to find out thereās something more than they thought. (Its one that would have a mix of romance types, a cute, sweet romance for one, and the other is definitely an enemies-to-lovers type)
-
Another idea is focused on a group that keeps reincarnating and becoming part of each others lives, only to die and not remember what happened into the next life, until one time, when one person in the group starts to have memories of those past lives, despite thinking he just met them.
-
Iāve put a little bit of thought into writing up in a novel type format something that was once an RP that got continued as a 1x1 (back on the Episode forums)
-
I also am looking at rewriting/further developing a story I wrote several years ago (when I was about 14) that took place in a Zombie apocalypse.
-
And then thereās one that would be more for the Dungeon than here, with how Iām envisioning it, about someone going undercover to find intel on a wanted criminalās operation, but developing a romantic relationship with the criminalās daughter.
HAHAHA. Yeah, I feel this is the biggest problem for creative people. SIGH.
Ooooh⦠love when world building is developed.
Oooh... your ideas. (wink) Teehee
-
Hmm⦠what media are you thinking the vampire ons for?
-
This favourite character one sounds like Stranger Than Fiction
-
Ooooh⦠something more than they thought⦠is the prince really the hiding out as the servant guy sometimes. HAHA
-
Oh, okay, so a part from the reincarnating part, this sounds like a Charmed episode called āDeja Vu All Over Againā
-
Love me a Zombie apocalypse!
-
Oooooh⦠a mature story. Sounds intriguing.
Yeah⦠so many ideas but almost always missing some unknown quality that pushes them to completion.
Yes, world building is the best part. Though, each idea gets just a little added at a time, but even that little bit more development feels like good progress.
Ideas
-
Honestly, like the rest of my ideas, I donāt have a certain media in mind at this point. Just living on in Google docs for the time being.
-
Interesting, I had never heard of that before, and I could possibly see a little similarity. My idea just has the writerās favorite character somehow becoming a real person in her ordinary world, prior to his death in the book she wrote. This situation is caused by someone else (not sure the motivation/how yet) and occurs with her and other similar writers and things they had written and the writer and her favorite character will have to work together to get out of the situation/figure out whatās really going on.
-
Haha technically, yes, as the prince and servant guy had been best friends since they were young and will agree to do certain things for each other.
-
Yes, I love a dystopian/apocalyptic setting anyway, but I especially love a zombie apocalypse. This would at least be the easiest one to make progress on because I essentially have a first draft done (pacing is rushed, and my writing has greatly improved since, cause it was before I even started RPing) because I actually wrote it down in a notebook while I was on the way home from school each day (and during lunchtime at school) for quite a while.
-
Yes, a mature story. Feels a bit more daunting than some of my other ideas
and that Iāll definitely be looking for writing advice in the Dungeon section if/when I get further into writing it. I actually got the idea for it from a dream one night. I guess I was brainstorming plot ideas in my sleep. and from that I got the idea of the main premise and the relationship for the main characters. Even a scene (a very risquĆ©/possibly explicit scene) for the pair that I had to write down the gist of when I woke up
Hmm Iām failing to come up with dialogue for a certain scene. Iām trying to make it sound believable and not cheesy.
What scene? Maybe I could help.
Right now Iām working on little sections at a time⦠Like world-building. Itās all just tentative world-building that could go out the window. Iām just having a lot of plot holes even though Iām really not writing yet, which are mainly due to not having a well-built world and magic system. This novel has been in my head for like a year now, and Iām not gonna do it justice if I donāt truly take the time and work through it. Even if my work will get thrown out the window once I go to actually write.
I might do some writing/brainstorming sprints purely for world-building. Once Iām done with that, Iāll leave it and let it sit. Then Iāll come back to it and start writing. Of course, Iāll change things as Iām writing if need be, and Iāll have a lot of room to make choices in the moment. I just want it to feel more full.
But Iāve also never really built a world before⦠Not really ever used an outline before either for a story. I have tried and it didnāt work out for me. But I think it could with this. I actually have a vague outline of the plot, but again there are some missing bits and plotholes I need to work outāhence the world-building. *
I hope that the time spent doing this stuff pays off.
I am currently capable of writing 2 sentences a day, I really need to make more time for writing.
Yeah, I know that feeling. I try to get into writing but then something else comes up.
I have so many story ideas and plots but never any motivation, like I start half a chapter and then it becomes a chore to write
Yes so true
I so get this. Like, I have the ideas and I want to see them through, but then I canāt figure out how to actually make them happen, so I lose motivation
I am revamping.
Feeling: annoyed. But I know I have to start a new project this year somehow. Deadly Nightshade is about to be finished.
Man, Iām starting to hate writing a novel because of how weak my schedule has been i.e. work and mental health taking the Mick. Ever since, Iāve been making a lot of changes because I felt that some things didnāt align with my interests i.e. having the novel centred at some fancy nightclub when in reality, I like going to metal shows and felt that the story was missing a lot of things. Iāve been constantly changing the book cover because I felt that the novel wonāt have as many spicy scenes as I expected it to be (Iāll be keeping the ambiguous title). I swear, every time I complete a chapter, I go back to revamping the first five chapters of the novel when I plan to write at least 25 to 30 chapters for my novel.
