“But why not? I don’t bite.” She giggled and took a swig of her soda, still looking at him. “Unless you want me to.” She looked out at the street and just listened to the cars passing by. “So tell me, why are you out here alone…sitting on a curb…as if you’re a Greek philosopher contemplating their existence.” She giggled and nudged his shoulder with hers. “I mean, it’s pretty dark out. Aren’t you cold?”
Fleur got out of the cab and walked down the street to where James was again. Emma was still in the cab and decided to go back to St Andrews. She stopped in her tracks when she saw James talking to a random girl. It looked like they were flirting. Fleur felt tears well up in her eyes. She couldn’t believe this. She even told him where she was going and he decided to use this as an opportunity to cozy up to another girl? As if she were replaceable. As if he were Scottie. No, Scottie is a different situation. she told herself. The truth was, he was no different than Scottie. That was his brother. How could she think one of his brothers could like her?
She walked down the street to the alleyway and started crying. She didn’t care how dangerous it was to be there at night. She bawled her eyes out. She hadn’t cried this hard in a long time.
