It’s no secret that apps like Wattpad, Episode and Chapters are full of the same kinds of stories: bad boys, love triangles, teacher crushes, pregnancies, abusive vampires, weird werewolves, etc.
But what is it that you are looking for in a new story? Is there something missing that you’d love to see brought to the app of your choice? What kinds of stories would you promote and read?
Personally, I’m looking for fantast stories with cool and complex characters that isn’t set in a weird, fake and unrealistic version of medieval Europe. Where are the Steampunk fantasies? What about the futuristic ones? And what about a different location for a change?
I’d like to see more revenge stories. I don’t know why I am so interested in them to be honest.
I’d like to see more mystery and horror. Comedy is okay but I don’t like how most comedy stories are based on transformations (nerd to queen B kind of stories).
For example, I really enjoyed reading Kelly:Revenge because it was very realistic and I liked how the author wrote certain topics with respect meaning she did not glorify suicide and other horrible things on there.
Other than that, I’d like to see more stories about relationships (with families of course, I’m getting sick of the romance rubbish on here since it’s all the same).
Good action/adventure flicks? They never happen anymore. Everyone’s too busy trying to be the next one who subverts the genre to actually make a good story. I want good action
Stories with good character development; I’m talking about characters that feel so real that you become invested in them to the point that you can’t wait to read the next chapter just to see what will happen to them. I love reading stories that have those types of characters, the ones you can’t stop thinking about even when you’re cooking or at work.
I want to see diversed stories, with an interesting pilot. And I want something different, in terms of the story’s main idea, in addition to the diversity.
And when authors create and add dark-skinned characters, I don’t want them to make the characters only Afro-Americans.
But, not just diversed and interesting. I want to see authors putting an effort when they create the characters by: giving them a personality, background, so it can make the story unique and interesting to read.
Annddd, as a Jewish person, I would like to see more Jewish character, even some of them as Jewish MCs
I’d like to see a story told from the POV of a villain or even an anti-hero. A different perspective on what someone is fighting for and what drives them to be the way they are.
I still want this. But there’s a lot to good action, I may actually need to have a look through Wattpad to see if they have many. I know I tagged Kito as martial arts, and I wasn’t the only one who had a story in that tag! So I’ll ave a look through that
You know what also works really well? Action/romance. You never see it these days but it can be so good when it’s done well
