So everyone knows that the thing all roleplays have are faceclaims. They are obviously very important in the roleplay, to see yours and other peoples characters and find the best characters for planning relationships. One of the best parts about faceclaims is that they are all unique to the roleplay. Some put information in different places of the slide, some make the faceclaim picture really small, some put all information on one slide, whereas some spread it out.
What do you think is the best layout for faceclaims? Where should the image be? Where should text be placed? Send a link to the faceclaims you think has the best layout!!
When I create FCs, I tend to put the image on the right side of the slide and information like the character’s name, age, sexuality, etc and then I put the user’s forums name in the corner of the slide. Then I put the Personality and Bio on their own slides.
For the best layout, it truly depends on the RP or SG and the information that is required.
The first slide when looking at an individual character’s info should always be your basic information. Name, age, sexuality, FC, creator, and some other basic info. Sometimes depending on the overall look of the fcs, you can include additional information beyond the standard information. Though sometimes due to the information needed for the RP or SG it requires an additional slide.
It depends on what the sign ups include and how much information will be given for each character. I like to make mine so that the first slides are the FC (typically on the left side) and more basic information such as name, age, sexuality, gender, likes and dislikes, etc. and the remaining ones will be for the personality and backstory. I like to separate the perso and backstory slides, too, no matter how short the paragraph is because I think they’re more neat
It seemed like everyones’s come to a consensus on what the first slide should be, likes, dislikes, FC, age, pronouns, and other basic information. I usually out the FC on the right, as English users read left-right. Therefore they don’t have to by pass the FC. If that makes sense. Then there’s other lil’ tidbits that you can stick in the corners. ALONG WITH BORDERS. Don’t forget borders, they look oh so neat!!!
I think my favorite FC slide, by far the best one I’ve ever seen, is this one, created by @LTea. There was so much effort put into it, I could never-
@RPers what do y’all think? Any FCs you’d like to share, or opinions?
Honoured that you tagged me
In regards to the question, I think it all depends. For larger casts the Faceclaims can get quite long, so cutting them down to only one slide works better, but then if people get really creative with their bio’s and personalities its sometimes better to split them. I have a variation of FC layouts. Sometimes I have the bare minimum of information so people can find out more while the RP unfolds, other times its better to include all the info in the fcs like with RPs such as FTD because the backstory is important to the set and story.
As for the picture, I always try to make it as large as possible so its clear, and I tend not to accept FCs that are pixeled or blurry. Adding a frame to the image then makes it stand out on its own and just looks nicer in my opinion. The layout for everything else just comes as I make it, and I try to match it to its theme. For example in FTD the main info was put on the first slide with the character’s parents in bold. But for my Mystveil one the kingdom’s information was put at the front because that is what characters are likely to know about each other. For my current RP, the FCs are laid out like a Victorian newsletter to match the theme. Sometimes its just good to experiment.
