World Tourism Day

I mean, not quite sure that @Discussions can properly discuss this day this year, given the current state of the world and the restricted travel we can do. Though, let’s try anyway.

World Tourism Day

This is a day that has been celebrated by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation since 1980. This date was chosen as on that day in 1970, the Statutes of the UNWTO were adopted. The adoption of these Statutes is considered a milestone in global tourism.

So…

  • Did you know about this day?
  • What does tourism mean to you?
  • What are the benefits of being a tourist?
  • What are the risks of being a tourist?
  • How does tourism affect your country?

Interesting :eyes:

I honestly didn’t.

People experiencing new things through travelling to different places.

You get to experience every culture, as well as get the pleasure of things from other places.

… getting lost and getting broke… I guess

Also, if you’re ignorant how one community or society in a country works, I’m sure that’s not going to go well for you.

Tourism helps develop my country, I think. It promotes cleanliness and preservation of nature, as well as a reminder that things will stay beautiful if cared for. Also the money we get from the foreigners helps too-

Nope

I love tourism
Especially when I’m the tourist, but also when I worked at the bar we had many tourists because it was in a hotel area, and even though “tourist season” was way harder in terms of works I loved it a lot more because the tourists were just such rad people (way better than locals)

Ah there are so many :joy:

Hm, it depends, but from what I’ve seen, people like cheating tourists and making everything more expensive and things like that

Mostly financially
Which is rad
Really depends
