AI is hurting the planet

The use of AI — particularly generating AI images, uses a ridiculous amount of water and energy. Pretty soon, it’s going to be one of the worst things for the environment.

We’re destroying our planet so some untalented and lazy people can pretend they’re artists.

If you’re someone who uses AI all the time, especially to make pictures, you’re wasting the planet’s resources for someone that no one even likes.

Just learn to do art on your own man. It’s hard but most people prefer an imperfect drawing than some freaky AI crap that no one asked for.

AI discourages REAL artists from making art, and I stand by that. :eyes:

Preach!

I’m so sick of seeing it as a teacher tbh. Using AI is the biggest sign that you don’t have talents in the areas you’re trying to LARP as an artist in.

No real artist posts AI pictures.

No real artist posts AI writing.

No real scholar posts AI essays.

If AI wasn’t so bad for the planet, it would be a great organisational and management tool. Like giving you advice on how to improve. But untalented people don’t use it like that!

I can imagine, my professors (especially English) are done with AI.

Last semester, about half of my class (or more) got emails from my prof. calling out their AI usage for essays and quizzes. And she never reported any of them to the university (I don’t think so at least).

Honestly, as a student, it’s a slap in the face to see people using AI and / or cheating and ending up with a higher grade. :sob:

That’s how untalented people work. They’d rather put their fingers in their ears and pretend that they’re not hurting the environment every time they ask AI for a crappy picture than actually change their ways and learn.

Don’t worry, though: while they might get good grades at the start, they’re not going to improve. They can’t take feedback and improve something they didn’t do, so they’ll never get better at making their work!
