Am I the only one who finds this place so toxic now? All I see on these “ranting”, “unpopular opinion” and “confession” threads are people complaining about others here and talking behind their back. It just isn’t healthy for anyone

As head of general moderation, I know pretty much every thread on these forums, the rant threads, unpopular opinion threads and confession threads do not make up the forums, they do not even make up 50% of the forums, far from it. It just so happens they are active because people like to vent, we aren’t episode and we won’t shut people down when they want to vent or talk about their mental health, if you don’t like it I suggest muting the threads.

As for talking about people behind their backs it has been said before, we don’t really care unless it gets brought to staff attention and then it can be seen as bullying don’t act like you don’t talk about people behind their backs, everybody does it to an extent and the funny thing is that whenever anyone denies it I can provide examples of when they have so don’t bother denying it, there is nothing wrong with venting about people, what they don’t know won’t hurt them right? Well make sure they never know, make damn sure they never know because there is a difference between venting and just straight up bullying. Venting isn’t against the rules, bullying really is.

You do you but I feel like this varies from person to person since when I’m not here I just spend all my time wishing I was if you need a break for mental health then fine take one but something else you could do is mute the threads and the people who give you anxiety, maybe you’ll start to feel better.

What episode forum were you using?
Because in my experience it’s a toxic waste dump where the worst parts of everybody are on show all the time, tensions are super high and sorry not sorry we don’t host a witch hunt for flaggers I guess?

In this whole thing there just seems to be a recurring theme of you not liking people who talk about you behind your back. I get it, nobody likes that, nobody likes feeling like they’re so unapproachable that they can’t just come to you. We like to think if people have a problem with us they will come to us so we can fix it or talk about it or whatever. I’m sorry though, we aren’t entitled to that, I’ve lost quite a few friendships because people wouldn’t discuss things with me and to this day I still wonder what I did wrong and think about every tiny thing it could possibly be and that is not a good way to live.

If somebody has talked about you behind your back to the point they no longer want to be your friend and don’t want to try to fix things with you then to me the friendship doesn’t seem like it was ever a good one.

Sometimes we have to be honest with our friends about their behaviour and how it is affecting other people, that to me is a good friendship, someone who tells me what I did wrong so I can at least try to make up for it or so I know not to do it again.

Anything said behind your back isn’t worth knowing anyway and it isn’t a p*ssy thing it’s more just a “I don’t want to fix this” thing.

Also sometimes people just vent to get things of their chest without hurting you
